You know how my little minibar sentence mentions needing endorsements? Well, right now I do kind of need "endorsements", but instead of for a hovercraft, it's for a really great cause!
Some of you may have heard of the literacy organization Open Books. They work to promote child and adult literacy, run a variety of education programs, and also have an amazing bookstore, the profits of which go towards furthering their cause. Well, this May they are holding ReadOn 2010. It's like a marathon, but instead of running, you read! I'd keep track of the number of pages I read, and any donations I get towards all the reading I do in May goes to Open Books.
Y'all know me well enough to know how important reading is to me, and how much I read. There are books out there that have gotten me through the most difficult times in my life, and books that just make me laugh or smile, books that make me think, a whole world of books that I love to immerse myself in. I can't imagine life without reading, and I love having the opportunity to promote passing on that opportunity to everyone. Because of that, I've signed up to be a reader for ReadOn. To be considered as an official reader I have to reach $100, and I'm already halfway there!
It's hard times economically out there, but if anyone wants to throw even a few extra dollars towards my reading in May, my donation page is here. All the money goes directly to Open Books.
Thanks for reading, everyone! I feel kind of bad posting a request for donations, but it's not for me, it's for an amazing cause!
