Since LEAA first drafted "National Concealed Carry for Cops" twelve years ago, we have fought tirelessly to see this law bring much-needed protection to police officers, their families and our communities.

218 is a holistic approach to changing women's offending.
It arises from an understanding of women's growth. According to Jean Baker Millar and subsequent research by Stephanie Covington and others;

women develop a sense of self and self worth when their actions arise out of, and lead back to, connections with others

true connections are mutual, empathic, creative, energy - releasing, and empowering for all participants

such connections are so crucial for women that women's psychological problems can be traced to disconnections or violations within relationships.

The project draws on all disciplines to develop unique, person centred programmes for every woman. Assessment of a woman's needs takes place over a period, with time for thought and reflection between meetings. In this way the precise character of her offending behaviour and the drivers which underlie it can be addressed with the correct supports.
