The camera finds the two tribes back at camp later that evening.
Dylan (voice-over): I can't say that I'm particularly surprised by tonight's results, but that doesn't mean that I'm not disappointed. If they decide to keep this 'two tribes on beach' plan, I'm well and truly screwed.
********************************************************************
As dawn breaks on the following morning, Myra wakes up and stretches. As she surveys the camp, she notices the large containers sitting near the tribal mailbox. An envelope sits on top.
Myra (picking up envelope): What the hell is this all about? Let's see...holy shit!
She returns to camp, wakes the others up, and reads the message to them.
Myra: Congratulations, everyone. You've made it to the second part of the game. From this point on, everyone who gets zotted will become part of the jury - and they will decide who wins the game. There is no more Praslin, no more La Digue - you are the nine members of Curieuse (yet another of the islands), and your focus must now shift from the group to the individual.
The contestants look at each other uneasily for a moment, and Myra continues reading.
Myra: In the meantime, though, we want you to take this day to celebrate your achievements. Everything you need is in the containers we've left for you. Best regards, Lotus and Sophie.
Wallace (voice-over): It didn't take us very long to open those containers - which were actually large coolers - and have a look at the goodies inside. Fresh fruit, vegetables, cheese, crackers, juice, wine...it was spectacular. We had a very long brunch, and it was nice to sit around for a bit and put the game into the back of our minds.
********************************************************************
A few hours later, after eating until they could eat no more, the members of Curieuse lie down by the shore to bask in the sun. No work is done, and there is very little conversation.
Oryx (voice-over): I honestly didn't think that the day could get any more laid back, but I was mistaken.
Lucy: I don't think I've told any of you about my luxury item, and I think that today is a good day to bring it up.
Gadget: What is it? And why is today a good day?
Lucy walks back into camp and returns a few moments later, luxury item in hand.
Clover: You've got to be fucking kidding me. You brought a bong? And marijuana?
Lucy: That's right. I've been saving this for a special occasion, and now seems like a good time to me. What do you say?
With that, the party continues well into the evening.
********************************************************************
As night falls, the camera catches the members of Curieuse sitting around the camp fire.
Dylan (voice-over): It's been an interesting day, to say the least, and it's been my best day here so far...but one thing is bothering me. She only brought out that damn bong to score points with the old Praslin tribe, and I don't like that at all. It makes my situation here even more precarious than before. I don't like this one bit.
Unable to sleep, Dylan walks along the beach and listens to the waves crash along the shore. A few moments later, Toby catches up with her.
Dylan (voice-over): And then, just like that, an opportunity presented itself to me.
Toby: Couldn't sleep?
Dylan: Nope. You?
Toby: I'm not feeling all that tired.
Dylan: Toby, I have a question for you.
Toby: What's up?
Dylan: You seem to be a keen observer, Toby, and I -
Toby: You'd like to know if we can form some sort of alliance.
Dylan (smiling): How did you guess?
Toby: I'm a keen observer, right? I've seen how you interact with the other La Digue people. You're not entirely happy with your situation.
Dylan: That's an understatement.
Toby: Well, I've got something going with Mle, Myra, and Wallace. We'd have numbers going into the next vote.
Dylan: Sounds good. There is one favour I'd have to ask, though.
Toby: What's that.
Dylan: Pending the outcome of the next challenge, I have someone in mind. Someone that has to go before we get any further in this game.
********************************************************************
On the following morning, camp life settles back into its usual routine. Water and food are collected, the fire is tended, and the odd bit of cleaning and shelter maintenance is done. As Gadget and Oryx are out collecting firewood, they find another message in the mailbox. Gadget quickly scans it before giving it to Oryx.
Oryx: The game is back on, I guess. Let's get back to camp and break the news...
********************************************************************
As the sun reaches its zenith, the members of Curieuse make their way to the area indicated in the message. Clover is wearing the immunity necklace, and the others glance at it every few moments.
Lotus: Welcome, Curieuse. Did you have a good day yesterday?
Mle (smiling): You could say that.
Lotus: Good. Are you ready to get back to the game? Alright, then. From this moment forth, team immunity has no meaning. You will be competing against each other for the necklace that Clover is wearing, and it is the only way to guarantee your safety at tribal council. On to the challenge at hand, then. Although I am sure you are tired of boats by now, we've got another boat challenge for you. Each of you has a small boat at the egde of the beach, and each boat is anchored to the shore by a rope tied with several intricate knots to a wooden peg. You must first untie all of the knots, then paddle your boat out to a buoy two hundred yards off shore. After retrieving your flag - marked with your name - from the buoy, you will paddle back to shore. The first person out of their boat and across the finish line with their flag wins immunity. Any questions? Okay. Line up here and wait for my go.
Clover gives the immunity necklace back to Lotus and takes her place on the starting line. Everyone waits quietly, getting ready to spring forward as soon as Lotus gives the word.
Lotus: On your marks, get set...go!
The contestants rush for their boats and furiously start to work on their knots.
Lotus: So far, so good. No clear leader as of yet.
Clover, Dylan, and Mle start to pull ahead, closely followed by Gadget, Toby, and Wallace.
Lotus: Everyone is still in this! Don't panic now, or those knots will frustrate you to no end...Clover has her knots undone! Dylan has released her boat! Mle, Gadget, and Wallace are almost there!
Clover and Dylan push their boats into deeper water, jump in, and start to paddle.
Lotus: Gadget is in the water! Mle is in! Everyone else had better pick up the pace!
Clover takes a slight lead at the one hundred yard mark, but Dylan closes the gap quickly. Mle is in third place, slightly ahead of Gadget.
Lotus: Dylan and Clover are practically tied, and Mle is closing quickly! Clover, Dylan, and Mle are almost at the buoy - and Clover bumps Mle's boat, nudging her further away!
Mle pushes back with her oar, cursing at Clover.
Lotus: Careful ladies! I have no qualms about disqualifying both of you!
Clover grabs her flag and heads back to shore, followed by Dylan and Mle. Gadget is close behind, followed by Wallace a few moments later.
Lotus: It's a three way race between Clover, Dylan, and Mle! Everyone is pushing themselves to get back first...Clover is out of the water! Dylan is out, and so is Mle...and Clover has crossed the finish line! She wins immunity!
Dylan flops down onto the sand, utterly exhausted. Mle sneers at Clover and kicks the sand, muttering under her breath.
Lotus: Clover, here is the immunity necklace; you are safe from the vote. As for the rest of you - someone is going home. I'll see you at tribal council.
********************************************************************
As night falls, the members of Curieuse make their way into the council pavillion and take their seats.
Dylan (voice-over): It's too bad that Clover won immunity - but I had someone else in mind, so it's okay. It's like shooting fish in a barrel.
Lotus: How did the merge go?
Oryx: Quite well, actually. We had a very good day off, and it didn't hurt to have all of that lovely food and drink with us. Very relaxing.
Lotus: Did the game leave your mind completely on that day?
Oryx: I'd like to say yes, but it's practically impossible to not think of the game, especially at a time like this.
Lotus: Would the rest of you agree with that?
Lucy: Absolutely. Up until now, we've been counting on each other to get through challenges and avoid the vote. As much as any of us would like that to continue, old tribal alliances don't mean anything anymore. It's a free for all out here.
Lotus: And on that note, we shall have our first vote of the second half. You have the immunity necklace, Clover, and you have the option of giving it to someone else if you like.
Clover: No, I'll keep this one.
Lotus: Fair enough. Clover is the only one who can not have a vote cast against her. Gadget, you are first.
********************************************************************
One by one, the contestants cast their ballots. After Myra casts the last vote, Lotus collects the voting urn.
Lotus: Once the votes are read, the decision is final. One for Mle...two for Mle...three for Mle...one for Lucy...two for Lucy...three for Lucy...four for Lucy...four for Mle...
Lotus pulls out the last ballot.
The sixth person zotted from SG Survivor - and the first person on the jury - is Mle.
Dylan's jaw drops as she and Mle exchange confused glances. A smile slowly creeps across Clover's face. Mle quickly walks out of the pavillion, shaking her head as she does so.
Lotus: From this point, on the power starts to shift to the jury. And Mle does not look happy. You can head back to camp.
********************************************************************
Mle enters the confessional to make her post-zot remarks.
Mle: Talk about being blindsided! Fuck...

(back from commercial)
The camera follows Curieuse back to camp after tribal council.
Dylan (voice-over): I can't believe this. The only way that Mle could have been zotted tonight is if someone who said she was voting with us changed her mind. Which also means that my bloc is now outnumbered five to three. Fuck.
**************************************************************************************************************************
As dawn breaks on the following morning, Dylan spots Wallace and Oryx walking along the beach. They appear to be having in the middle of a long conversation, at which point they stop and share an embrace. She motions to Myra and Toby, and the three of them retire into the underbrush. Dylan explains what she has seen.
Toby: So you think that Wallace has turned, then?
Dylan: That's my guess. I realize that I may be a little on the paranoid side, but...
Myra: Should we confront her about this?
Toby: It's a matter of when, I think. We need to get her away from the others before we say anything.
Dylan: Right.
Myra: We should give her another chance, though.
Toby: Why? She stabbed us in the back.
Myra: Okay, you have a point - but unless we have her vote, none of us will go very far. We need her to get to the final four. After that, all bets are off.
Toby: I guess so. I don't really like it, but what choice do we have?
As they turn back towards camp, they stop by the mail box.
Dylan: Reward challenge, by the looks of it. Let's show this to the others.
**************************************************************************************************************************
Several hours later, a boat picks up the members of Curieuse and brings them to another island - one that they have not been on before.
As they step out of the boat and walk onto the beach, they notice two long huts at the edge of the beach. Lotus is standing in the gap between them.
Lotus: Good afternoon, ladies. I hope that you're all doing well. We've got something a little different for you today. One of the most important things about being able to survive out here is the ability to find food for everyone. You all know how much a good meal can tip the scales at a challenge - it's not only an energy boost, but a psychological boost as well. This isn't a food finding challenge, though.
Oryx: What is it, then?
Lotus: Iron Chef, Seychelles edition.
Wallace: What?
Lotus: Both of these huts are stocked with different tropical food items - some found here, some found elsewhere. We will draw up two teams of four, and your task will be to create a three course SG Survivor dinner over a period of three hours. Sophie will judge your creations based on creativity, presentation - and most importantly- palatability. Let's draw up the teams.
One by one, Lotus pulls the names of the contestants out of a bag.
Lotus: On one side, we have Toby, Lucy, Dylan, and Clover. Oryx, Wallace, Myra, and Gadget make up the other team. Time will start on my go.
Gadget: Wait! What are we playing for?
Lotus (smirking): We have to have some surprises around here, don't we? Get ready...set...go! The clock is ticking!

Oh, dude, I am totally going to school everyone in this challenge. I rule at making up new food.

As the challenge starts, the two teams take a quick inventory of the items in their respective huts.
Oryx (voice-over): We had just about everything we needed to put together this meal, but Lotus' instructions were a little misleading. The only "tropical" stuff we had was pineapple, papaya, mango, and coconut. Everything else was fairly common.
Lucy (voice-over): We spent about twenty minutes plotting our strategy, and I asked them to leave the dessert course to me. As I looked through the stuff they gave us, an idea slowly crept into my head. Let's just hope that it works.
**************************************************************************************************************************
Elapsed time: 75 minutes
Smoke rises from both huts as the teams start to cook their dishes. The camera finds Oryx and Wallace chopping vegetables as Myra and Gadget add various items to a frying pan. Clover looks over at them for a moment before returning to her own creation. Lucy, meanwhile, is furtively working in the background - and she does not even let her own team see what she is doing.
**************************************************************************************************************************
Elapsed time: 120 minutes
Lotus: One hour to go, everyone. Whatever you're making smells pretty good to me...
Wallace (voice-over): Whatever they're doing over there seems to be taking a lot of time and effort. I really think that they're overdoing it, and that will be to our advantage. I know that Sophie is looking for creativity, but there is a limit.
**************************************************************************************************************************
Elapsed time: 170 minutes
Lotus: Ten minutes, everyone!
Dylan (voice-over): I think that things have been going rather well over here. Lucy's secret dessert has taken longer than anything else we've done, and I'm really hoping that it works out. I've been checking in on the other side, and their stuff looks pretty good - this certainly isn't going to be a cakewalk.
**************************************************************************************************************************
Lotus: Okay, everyone! Your time is up. Get everything in order and select a representative to present your dishes. Sophie looks eager to sample your cooking.
Sophie (smiling): Absolutely! Everything smells great.
Lotus: Okay, it appears as though Gadget and Lucy have been selected as representatives for their respective teams. Who wants to go first?
Gadget: I'll go first, if there are no objections.
Lucy nods in assent.
Gadget: For starters, we have a mango salad with spinach and cabbage; we used a light dressing of olive oil and vinegar with a little garlic mixed in for good measure. The main course is gingered chicken with mango; we fried some chicken fillets with a little garlic, then sauteed them with mango, brown sugar, ginger, and soy sauce. Finally, we have papaya creamsicles for dessert. It's papaya mixed with a little orange juice and vanilla flavoured frozen yogurt.
Sophie nods in approval and samples each dish. Gadget looks back at her team and smiles.
After cleansing her palate, Sophie asks Lucy to bring her team's dishes to the table.
Lucy: We've got a green papaya salad to start; the papaya is mixed with cabbage, string beans, tomatoes, red chili peppers, and a little garlic. For the main course, we prepared chicken fillets with papaya-pineapple salsa; there is a bit of garlic, lime juice, and red onions in that as well. And now for dessert. I call this potato candy.
Sophie: Potato candy? Is that what you were working on back there?
Lucy: That's right. I took some plain mashed potatoes and added coconut, brown sugar, and vanilla. After letting it cool down, I drizzled some chocolate on top before sticking it in the freezer for a little while.
Sophie smiles and starts to sample the dishes. Lucy looks back at the rest of the team while crossing her fingers.
Sophie: Lotus, would you mind sampling everything as well? I could use a second opinion.
Lotus: Sure.
Toby: So when are we going to get a decision?
Sophie: Give us about half an hour.
With that, the two teams retire to the beach and sit in the sun. Lotus and Sophie continue to eat while in deep discussion.
Oryx (voice-over): If I didn't know better, I'd swear that this challenge was just an excuse for those two to sit around and eat a fancy meal in the shade.
Lotus: You can head back! We're done here.
The two teams return and wait expectantly for a decision to be handed down.
Sophie: Firstly, I'd like to compliment everyone on their efforts today; I really enjoyed everything that you made. Gadget, your team did very well with the main course; the gingered chicken was excellent and well prepared. The papaya-pineapple salsa wasn't bad, Lucy, but it wasn't quite what I would have expected. On the other hand, your team's salad was very well put together and had a lot of interesting ingredients. That's not to say that your salad was bad, Gadget, but it was a little on the plain side. As for the dessert...well, there is no contest. I like creamsicles as much as the next person, but I never would have thought about anything like potato candy. It was a very creative use of the ingredients, and I really liked it. As such, I am going to declare Lucy, Dylan, Clover and Toby the winners of Iron Chef Seychelles!
A cheer erupts as the winners celebrate.
Lotus: Gadget, you and your team did a hell of a job and you should be proud...but it just wasn't enough to win. As for the rest of you, I'm sure that you're wondering what you've won.
Dylan: Absolutely!
Lotus: We've got a satellite phone here with us, and each of you will be allowed to make a ten minute phone call to the person of your choice. How does that sound?
Another cheer erupts from the winning side, but it dies down after a few seconds.
Clover (voice-over): As happy as I was to win this challenge, I couldn't help but feel badly for Oryx, Wallace, Myra, and Gadget. Talking about people back home is our most popular topic of discussion around the campfire at night, and I'm sure that they would love to be in our position.
***********************************************************************************************************************
Later that day, the winning side returns to camp. As she films their return, Sophie asks each of them who they called.
Lucy: I shot the breeze with FreakPirate for a bit. That crazy bastard...
Clover: I spoke to my brother. It was great to hear his voice, and I feel much more focused now.
Dylan: I spoke to one of my best friends, and it was awesome. I really needed a laugh!
Toby: I spoke to Shayne. I've missed her. The fact that she was in this position doesn't hurt either, and she gave me a little advice on the game. I'm ready to go all the way to the end!
