our good friend Rafi has gone gray. we knew it was coming, but it is still very sad. i didn't know him too well, but i thought it would be fitting to send him off with a new orleans style jazz funeral. say a few words about him if you wish or just enjoy the party! it's the way he would have wanted it.

Rafi would have been amused that the first reaction was concern for Raffi, both of whom are very much alive.

Good luck on the outside, Rafi.

Raffi. Yes.

Edit: I was beaten, but I had to go make sure before I answered the question.

It's Rafi's fault for having a name so close to Raffi.

Anyway. Rafi was a nice guy. I'm sorry he's dead. I'm still amused by the way people start up appreciation threads after people are gone, though.

I'll comment for him, since I'm his girlfriend and hereby delegated to the responsibility of keeping the ties of communication between him and his loving SG friends alive. (IE, Like passing notes in high school science lab).

Actually, he's highly appreciative. And so am I. He's a great guy. That's why he's mine!

I've been to Redondo Beach, once. I really loved it there. We ate at this little italian place on the beach...mama something or rather.

Nah, I think they go right. Appreciation threads are silly.

But not RAFI's appreciation thread. It was a nice ending. But what's silly is that rafi knew about it before I did.

bump.

well, like i said before, i didn't know Rafi very well. i wasn't even on his friend list. but he caught my eye when he started a thread about silent films. this guy seriously knows his movies. and his taste in music isn't too shabby either.

this tom waits song makes me think of Rafi. i'm not sure why. but it does.

Well, I wish I was in New Orleans
I can see it in my dreams
arm-in-arm down Burgundy
a bottle and my friends and me
hoist up a few tall cool ones
play some pool and listen to that
tenor saxophone calling me home
and I can hear the band begin
"When the Saints Go Marching In"
by the whiskers on my chin
New Orleans, I'll be there

I'll drink you under the table
be red nose go for walks
the old haunts what I wants
is red beans and rice
and wear the dress I like so well
and meet me at the old saloon
make sure there's a Dixie moon
New Orleans, I'll be there

and deal the cards roll the dice
if it ain't that ole Chuck E. Weiss
and Clayborn Avenue me and you
Sam Jones and all
and I wish I was in New Orleans
I can see it in my dreams
arm-in-arm down Burgundy
a bottle and my friends and me
New Orleans, I'll be there
