But this time I caught the fucker!

I had that problem with the seat in the bathroom at work. When the seat fell it sounded like a gunshot, it was so loud. I fixed it by reversing the lid of the tank. Gave the seat just enough room to stay back unless I moved it.

Interesting approach...I'll give it a look.
