I found a thing online about how a condom commercial got denied by major networks, and I'm like wtf, okay so we already don't teach safe sex, only abstinence, so let's not let kids know that there are ways to be safe. Cause let's face it, some kids don't know about it, if their parents don't talk to them or if they're super sheltered.
I think it's so stupid that they think that needs to be censored.

-sigh-
And yet we can see all the prescription drug commercials on tv with side effects like ....Anal Seepage, 4 hour long erections, Headaches, ....
I agree completely. Censoring in the USA at least seems to be going way to far on some areas and just ultra laxed (not that I care) in others. Have some consistency at the least man!
To quote Hunter S. Thompson
"America... just a nation of two hundred million used car salesmen with all the money we need to buy guns and no qualms about killing anybody else in the world who tries to make us uncomfortable."
In every sexually suppressed society or lifestyle we see, the instances of sexual abuse, violent crimes with sexual motives, or flat out evil seem to increase.
All the evidence would seem to indicate that openness and honesty about sexuality is the best policy, but we just can't bring ourselves to admit it. Because, apparently, we're embarrassed to talk about it with our families.
I think you should mention the uproar Janet Jackson faced after what was dubbed "Nipplegate" and how Justin Timberfake got a pass. There is something about ethnic sexuality which is almost always shunned by the censors. For example, everytime I'm watching a show or something on tv (which is where you see the most censorship) and they are going to show a white girl in a bikini or what have you, they always show some bony, flimsy ass with zero padding. However, if it's a latina or black girl they almost always show upper body and legs but always cut before you can get a good look at the booty! It's wrong and it pisses me off everytime!
Mainstream white dominated media is afraid of ethnic sexuality for the most part. I'm speaking in broad strokes simply because I really can't go into detail here but..... the info is out there.
sex sells.
while it can be almost impossible to find any worthwhile information about safe sex and the media consistently censors sexual content. there is the other side of the coin were sexual innuendo and references are consistently used to; attract an audience, get a music video into the top ten, sell a product. this creates an environment where we as a society are constantly being bombarded with sexual images and the idea that "everyone is doing it" but at the same time being suppressed when it comes to open dialogue about our sexuality.
this dual nature in regards to sex and censorship opens the door to unsafe sexual practices as well as the propagation of misinformation when it comes to sexual activity, bigotry and suppression towards different kinds of sexual activities (LGBT, bdsm to name a couple examples).
just something you might want to look into
good luck with the paper
