I was always quiet and shy...
you know the guy...he sat in the back of the class, didn't speak much...but when he did it was profound...

Well apparently that didn't sit right with most people, and being fat didn't help, so people felt the need to point out that I was fat, like I didn't know this by looking down or anything.

Anyway...
when Columbine happened, I was put in the Top 10 of a list of kids that were "potentially dangerous" because I just took their abuse and shrugged it off.
The other 9 people were close personal friends of mine...haha.
People tended to leave me alone after that.
It probably helped that I wore an old canvas duster everyday because I liked it. The funny thing is...I didn't hear about Columbine until the day AFTER it happened, so I went to school wearing my duster like nothing had happened...and got some might funny looks that morning in the cafeteria.

It also helped that I was the reason one of the popular jock kids passed Biology. He saw some kid fucking with me one day and got in the kids face and told them I was cool and that if he ever fucked with me again, he'd kick the kid's ass.
Hurray for nerds helping jocks pass classes!

i actually came to post a similar experience.

In my goverment class, at the beginning of each day, we would discuss the headlines. So a couple days after the Columbine shootings, we were talking about what would lead these kids to do what they did

So this guy next to me, a jock, said something to the effect of "Yeah, it's always the quiet ones who'll go crazy, I mean, look at this guy here.." *pointed at me, as i was (and still am) a very quiet reserved guy "He's quiet, as far as we know, he might be planning to come to school tomorrow and shoot all of us!"

and of course the whole class turned their heads and started staring at me, some were worried. So of course, in my head i'm thinking (not seriously of course) 'well, i wasnt planning on it, but now it doesnt sound so bad!'

Luckily that was toward the end of my senior year, so i didnt have to put up with people nervously avoiding me for long

this one is fucked up on both ends, the people who teased me, and my end

in middle school, 7th grade science, we had assigned seats, and i was seated next to this girl who was born with some disabilities, physically and mentally. That sort of thing didnt matter to me, so i became friendly with her in class. We would joke around, and got along pretty well

well, some of the other kids took notice, and started teasing me, telling me she was my girlfriend and stuff like that. So, being the defensive, passive aggressive person i am, i stopped talking to her.

i've felt so bad for that for years now, and i'm sure if she was on SG, i would be someone she might talk about in this thread

How about what they said?
'Halfbreed'
'Mutt'
'What are you looking at, Oreo?'
'N*****'
"There's no such thing as racism, so stop whining.'

Now they're all...doing nothing with their lives? And everyone I ever met outside of the middle of nowhere thought it was cool that I was an amalgamation of genetics.

whatever

After I accidentally hit a guys car in the parking lot, a bunch of his friends and him gathered around my car and threatened to alternately beat me up or shoot me. That was pretty mean, I guess.

Most of the time, I was ignored, and that is how I liked it.

I also joined ROTC to get out of PE, but I actually liked the class. Aerospace science was one of my favorite classes, and I even joined the drill team, and was really good at it. I'm a marching fool!
