This is the 3rd hangover I have ever had.
The first 2 I cured...I forget how but I did.
I am feeling 60% better though. Thanks to everyones tips...I ate greasy food, had coffee, v8, drinking gatoraide and even though it's bad for my liver I took 6 tylenol today.
Srsly, I don't think I am gonna drink ever again.

Pedialyte is like gatorade except made for kids. It's basically the same stuff, just better for you.

Aleve: also Very Bad during a hangover. You really shouldn't take any pain relievers when hung over. You liver is under a lot of stress as it is and pain relievers are notoriously hard on your liver. If you must, take 2 aspirin on a full stomach. But really, you should just suck it up for a few hours until you feel better.

Gatorade and real fruit juices and lots of water.

Pain relievers generally are a bad idea (although, caffeine, despite its diuretic properties, has significant headache-reduction ability, and if you're a regular coffee drinker and may be dependent you may have to ingest some caffeien or the headache can be worse. Keep in mind that tea has very little caffeine in comparison to coffee (about six 16 oz teas approximately equal a 6-ounce cup of drip coffee - don't ask, but when i worked in a lab we tested EVERYTHING for caffeien quantity. You'd need almost 4 cans of cola to equal 6 ounces of coffee or 3 Mountain Dews or several pounds of chocolate.

If you MUST take a pain reliever, take ibuprofen. It's processed mainly by the kidneys, while most others (I'm not sure about Aleve/naproxen) are hard on the liver. All of my patients are in kidney failure and can only take Tylenol (acetominophen). If they had liver failure instead, they'd be advised to take ibuprofen.

And remember, kids, mixing drugs and alcohol is always dangerous, but if you choose to mix them, thry to avoid Lortab, Lorcet, or Vicodin (they're all the same thing - hydrocodone with ACETOMINOPHEN). Containing the generic Tylenol, the damage to the liver by mixing this with alcohol is greater than the sum of the two. In other words, if alcohol you drink's toxicity to the liver has a value of "X," and the toxicity of the acetominophen is "Y," taking them together is more toxic than just X + Y.

And, if you were able to process my entire comment, you're probably pretty close to recovered.

To the rest of you who got a headache from reading this, if you drank last night, don't take Tylenol.smile

I would say sleep it off. That's always been the best way for me.... of course sleeping for a couple days becomes a problem.

hahaa. no, just the headache.
The problem with sleeping it off was I felt like I was doing flips, even with my foot on the floor...I went for a walk and I felt like the world was spinning...
I guess they're right beer before liquor makes you sicker. tongue

Midol. Seriously. If you look at the bottle, it covers all the same symptoms as a hangover and works like a charm. wink
