At Disney World I believed that the crocs and snakes on the Jungle Boat ride were real. I was glued to the floor of the boat crying til' the ride was over.

My friend thought that the sun and the moon were the same thing until she was 17 years old. She thought that the sun would go down and wait for it to get dark and then come back out as the "night sun".

My mom told me that everything she didn't want me to do would give me worms.

So I thought that eating pickles, walking barefooted, hitting my brother, etc. would give me worms. I was a terrified child and I still don't like worms.

Your mom didn't want you eating pickles?

I should have clarified: She didn't want me eating entire jars of pickles at once. I really liked pickles.

hahaha, that is a much less insane policy for your mother to have.

LOL that's not a super power that's more of a skill points system

for myself i only believed in what i saw with my own eyes so naturally i believed that machines and technology would someday turn on us for using the hell out of them (not a joke, soon after i was a full fledged grade school atheist)

I was not a pretty child and I always believed that if I was only pretty that nobody would ever be mean to me or hurt me ever again.

I also thought pretty girls were automatically nice (thanks Disney) so one day I said hello to the most beautiful girl in grade two and she sneered at me and told me to go away. blackeyed

That I would never grow up and get old, and no one would ever hurt me...because even as a child I feared that most. I was also extremely afraid of dying.

I took the word pot literally. I thought my babysitter was smoking ground up pots and pans, and always wondered why anyone would want to do that.

Let's see ...

That everything (and everyone) is eternal and when someone died it was because something has gone terribly wrong.

That the gods of norse mythology once lived but had all perished in Ragnarok.

That all grownups had money, freedom, and happiness (strangely enough my family was not rich by any stretch of the imagination).

Apparently I was wrong.

I believed that if I really wanted to I could be anything.

Me too. I've sort of accepted that I will...but I've narrowed it down to not wanting to die because of something I caused myself (i.e. car accident I cause, alcohol poisioning, cancer from smoking, HIV from too many sex partners)...::shudders::
