I realise this is a way old topic..

I don't think lolicon should be banned. Not because of freedom, or any desire to see it.
Lolicon is not the cause. It exists because there is a desire.
Bill Hicks: pornography does not cause sexual thought, there is sexual thought therefore there is pornography.

There is an issue, maybe caused by emasculation and fear of loss of control, and one outlet appears to be drawings of fantasies. Will the fantasies go away because you ban the drawings?
of course not. Address the issue, fight through the repression and stop harming children.

Besides..
We see cartoons which show murder, cartoon violence, recreations of murder in films and on TV constantly. Whether the killings are glorified or villified, they are used to drive the plot they are used to excite the audience. I'm not reducing the seriousness of any kind of sexual assault, but murder seems a pretty serious crime. Those old bugs bunny cartoons which stereotyped black people as jungle folk.. they existed because the society which created them had racist views. They weren't banned to stop racism, brave people stood up for what was right and society changed.

I have seen Natural Born Killers many times and it has not driven me to harm anyone; even though Mickey and Mallory are some brilliant characters I'm not going to imitate their actions. Yet I would say that many more people in the world may be naturally disposed to physical violence than to paedophillia.

I think that there is a barrier within people which prevents them from going from fantasy to fucking up someones life. But like I said, I don't think that lolicon is the cause of the desire. In the same way as showing someone tentacle porn isn't going to turn them on to squid.

anyway isn't tentacle porn bestiality, which is also illegal?
I wonder how many people ate some shit after seeing 2 girls 1 cup. I bet none.

Good argument. There's a discussion of the same topic in the comics group here. As I said there, my argument is based on whether or not it's harmful. I haven't seen evidence that viewing cartoon kiddie porn actually does anyone any harm. So, while I find it disturbing and even offensive, I can't in good conscience support regulation against it.

I would bet a good proportion of people who look at lolicon stuff are reliving their childhood trauma. If they're not you can still mind your own business unless they abuse child. NEWSFLASH: you can draw it yourself. This is such an annoying thread with a lot of people chiming in when they really have no grounds to other than an understandable feeling of wanting to protect little humans. Of course people who are sexually abused as child end up as very adjusted, sane and not at all twisted adults. And by that I do not mean paedophiles or rapists of any kind.

I am a firm believer in 2 philosophies. "if it ain't broke don't fix it" and "the best solution to a problem is to not create it in the first place."

i'm a henti fan myself, and i've seen this revolving argument on several chan boards. and when we start going down this type of road, banning non-harmful material because you dont like it, you open a Pandora's Box that will make the election that put George W in office seem like a mild fart on the breakroom.

Until it harms an actual person i say leave it alone.

Well they say it should be legal as it relieve's sexual tension of actual paedophiles.

I don't know who actually said that, but that sounds completely untrue. That's like saying that pornography reduces rape, when rape actually stems from a desire for domination and humiliation, rather than satiating physical sexual desires.

That doesn't apply to pedophilia, though. For many pedophiles, it is about sexual desire. Though, I'm not sure it follows that porn actually relieve sexual tension to the point where someone who might otherwise seek sexual contact would not do so. This applies whether we're talking about pedophiles or sexually healthy people. Porn addiction can alter sexual desires such that the real thing stops being appealing, but that's a little different.

I don't believe it does either. You could even reverse this argument to say that porn actually peaks interest an interest within people that may have been dormant before. But maybe pointing the finger at porn is really just correlative, because porn simply happens to be everybody's first teacher.

With that said, I see no harm in anime porn, simply because the whole appeal of watching animated porn is to fulfill sexual fantasies that couldn't possibly exist in real life. Like, I personally love getting off tentacle rape, but there is no way in HELL I would actually get turned on being raped by a mollusk. Hahahaha.

Plus, if it's a drawing, it isn't directly hurting any 3rd parties anyway.
