Why is masturbation a private thing?

People being in public is bad enough, let alone masterbating. Maybe this should be one of those rules that only really hot people get to brake.

not to be all puritan, but sex scares some kids. they dont understand it. nor should they have to try to in a public place. if you wanna bust a nut while everyone watches, im sure theres a sex club somewhere near you.

I might be about to be guilty of taking the opening post too seriously, but claims that "these things are all arbitrary social constructs" usually annoy me. Taboos aren't always sensible but they're usually understandable.

The taboo on masturabation in public and sex in public is because of The Hands Off Rule. Sex is meant to be something that both parties (or more than two) consent to, where consent is often nonverbal. Actions often get interpreted as invitations to participate.

Ask yourself this. Forget about the fat sweaty man on the park bench. Imagine the hot chick who pulls down her panties and starts fingering herself in the park over from her office at lunchtime. You're seriously saying that everyone's going to just respectfully walk past and leave her to her own devices?

I would hate my four year-old daughter to see men or women getting themselves off in public: I don't think kids should lose their innocence until absolutely necessary. There's nothing wrong with people masturbating, I just don't want to see them do it.
