It does suck, but if it's any consolation, I can think of worse ways to find out your partner doesn't really dig you.

okay we need some backfill though..HAS he said "I love you"? cause if he has maybe he just wants to make sure EACH time he says it, its special...OR if he hasn't maybe he is just waiting for the perfect time so the words have meaning OR he just doesn't love you

I dunno. I think he's just being cautious. If my girlfriend were to say she loved me right now, I wouldn't say it back. Not because I don't have strong feelings for her, or because I don't think I WILL ever love her, just because I've said it too easily before, y'know?

Or that old, "I don't love you but I have love for you". Fuck that noise. Eat my ass you cop out using bitch. If you have to pull that crap line, don't say anything at all.

How did that song from a few years back go that used a similar line? Whatever it was, it sucked.

You don't know it yet, but you've just made it onto every Do Not Date List ever created.

I got, 'I'm flattered' once.

I was upset at the time.

Now I just think it's funny.

And a little gay.

Thank You?? what the fuck? like you did him a favor or some shit. That statement should have been followed with a reply from you of "well fuck you then, loser!", a swift kick in the balls and a elbow to the right eyebrow!

... Ive been in situations where someone has uttered those words when I wasn't ready to hear it, but I didn't fucking say thank you. I at least took the time to explain my standpoint.

Ohh, or even worse, when he says "You don't love me, you just love my Doggy-style"... then he morphs into a Doberman and runs out the front door when your dad gets home. biggrin

yeah. . . . . .that's just about as bad as if they just say nothing. . . .

but then "i know" is worse than either one

Maybe they're quoting The Empire Strikes Back.

If Han Solo said it, it has to be romantic, right?

The first time my girl said I love you I said nothing. I totally froze and couldn't make sound come out of my mouth. But I calmed down and found just the right words the next day.

when my last boyfriend told me he loved me for the first time, i said "okay". i felt really bad though. it's just always so bloody awkward.

my current boyfriend's best friend told me about this "hand" thing they both talked about, where whoever says it first has the upper hand in the relationship. this has forever influenced our utterings, in that we haven't and won't until the other person does it first. so silly.
