I would say if nothing else has changed recently... it's most likely the pill.

Of course, I'm not a doctor.

You should try asking yours, though.

The pill can do that to you, yes. You might want to see if it your libido comes back as your body adjusts to the pill, and if it doesn't, talk to your doctor about BC alternatives.

i always tend to find that after 3 months with the same person, i lose my libido entirely. i thought this was some fuck-up in my attitude but turns out the female drive to reproduce is programmed to last 3 months ie 3 periods and thus opportunities to concieve per male. after that your body reckons you just aren't gonna make it and should find a different potential father!

so this can be a factor too sometimes. also antidepressants?

if you don't get a chance to visit your doc for awhile (or you absolutely loath going) you could try to altenate your diet and how much you excersise. just try different combinations of foods, etc.

even if you've 'always' eaten a certain way and it's never affected you before, you have to take into account the fact that our bodies are always changing as we grow older.

hope it works out for you!

dude
freaky
it's been like three months
it's actually the longest time i've been with someone in a long time... (my last long relationship was a couple years ago- we were together for two years)

i didn't think about my anti's... i quit taking them a couple weeks ago... but i thought they only messed with sex when you took them>? maybe i should start them up again?

hehe freaky indeed isn't it? also blahdy annoying. most people manage to overcome it just by the human need to reassure others and strengthen bonds, but i and one of my very close friends always have quite a hard time overcoming it. i guess it helps just knowing that it's not really your fault, and it becomes a decision you have to make.

antidepressants take AGES to get out of your system, it was 8-9 weeks before i felt that they had fully ceased affecting me. i had this problem before i took them, and during, but thought coming off might change that. it didn't, but means if you ask a doctor and blame the anti's they will prob prescribe you something. personally i'd advise against it. it's best to tamper with your body as little as necessary.

Do you have a link supporting that information?

I'm a bit skeptical.

I'd like to read more about it.

I'm rather skeptical of that myself. Just doesn't sound like a viable explanation for lots of reasons.

would love to read more about it.

hm i'll look it up. a biology student friend at oxford told me about it and i was happy to go along with it because psychologically i can deal with something better if i think it is biological rather than behavioural. hence i haven't checked the backing research...it might give me answers that i don't want!

but i'll be speaking to her later in the week so i'll quiz her for you!

you need a new pill lady shocked I would visit the doc and explain what has been going on. Apparently some BC pills do this but i have never experienced it.

This happened to an old girlfriend of mine once. she changed pill and about 2 months later all was good again.
Seriously see a doctor this is not healthy, being a sexual person then suddenly not. It messed with the gf head she got depressed and put on weight. smile

This happened to me exactly like you said, changed pills, lost libido COMPLETELY. changed to a very low dose one last week, and I'm already noticing it's coming back. I read a scary report that said women can suffer permanently lowered libido due to the pill. Pregnancy prevention is not worth losing my sex drive for forever. at least you could say it works better then whatever

Yeah It could be the pill. My Ex gf had the same problem. But she went nuts as well and her body changed. It was very tough on both of us. Its quite scary that It can have such a strong affect on some girls. You should see a doctor and save yourself from the side affects as they can creep upon you and before you know It you LOOOPPPYYY eeek tongue shocked surreal whatever frown eeek
