WARNING: TMI

I thought this was fascinating, but it may be way more than you ever wanted to know about me, men, or penii. So don't say I didn't warn you. No photographs, though.

SPOILERS! (Click to view)
I always thought I had a normal package, like any other average guy's. But my wife noticed that the opening at the end was not where the other guys she had been with was. It was slightly further down the glans, not at the tip.

So she did a little research.

Turns out I have a very mild birth defect called hypospadius:

Hypospadias is a birth defect found in boys in which the penile meatus is not at the tip of the penis. The meatus is the term for the opening of the penis through which urine normally exits the bladder. The incidence is reported to be 1 in 300 live male births.

In normal men, the opening should be here (illustration):

Mine is more like here (illustration):

Anyway, I thought it was interesting. Maybe some other guys have this mild condition too, and never realized it, like I did. It doesn't bother me or look freaky, or anything. Just kind of interesting.

*That's kind of a freaky illustration, though, isn't it? Best I could find. Sorry.

In severe cases, it's usually operated on right after birth, so most guys wouldn't even know they ever had it unless it was a really mild form that didn't require an operation. So for adult men, it's more of just a curiosity.

I had a cousin who had surgery for it when he was about 8 yrs old. Not sure why ther waited so long, but yeah, not unusual.

My mother told me once that my father has that I think. And that they didn't circumcise him because of it.

Talk about TMI. I almost died from the amount of oversharing. blackeyed surreal

Why operate?
Does it affect anything?

Does anyone else get the weird feeling that the penis in that picture is being pulled in all different directions by wires shoved through it?

If the hole is grossly misplaced, it could cause some big problems during urination.

I had a roommate that claimed he had a normal hole and one on the bottom and sometimes they both worked. Never cared enough to confirm it though.

Doesn't make any difference for me. Like I said, mine was mild enough that I never thought about it (despite seeing lots of porn) until my wife brought it up.
