my first real g/f informed me that she wanted to get together again after a 10 month split. That was 6.5 years ago and we haven't looked back.

They come back because of the horny.

biggrin Yep. Then they expect the sex. I once made the mistake of meeting an old bf for lunch after he called me out of the blue. Well....I thought we were meeting for lunch. Big mistake. It ended worse than the 15 times we broke up in high school.

I totally thought this was going to be a "Sometimes They Come Back" appreciation thread.

i think it's because they/you already know eachother. even if it didn't work out there's a base of familiarity. it's a lot easier than going out and meeting someone new! for better or for worse of course...

in my experience, any old problems or irreconcileable differences that couldn't get worked out before will come back. maybe not right away, but they always seem to.

Absolutely!!!!

My fiancee and I dated after highschool, I left for the Marines she left for the Air Force. We would get together once in awhile-we were on opposite coasts. Some times when we were dating other people, some times single. But we never seemed to be able to get it together. She moved back and we hooked up once, spent another year apart while we were both in other relationships. We both were both single at the same time and and got together.

Our relationship has been over ten years in the making. We got to put other people through all the ugly shit you put people through in relationships when you're growing up, and now we know how to make it work with each other without all the bullshit.

We just bought a house and are getting married in July! love

Hahahaha, yes, I intentionally named this thread after that movie - it seemed appropriate somehow! biggrin

Awww! That's very sweet! See, I was wondering if there's such a thing as "right person, wrong time." Because most people seem to say "I guess it just wasn't meant to be" after one try. I keep wondering if I've met the person I'm going to end up with already (whether I've dated them or not), and the only thing that was off is the timing.
