It hasn't come up since high school, but back then... One time, for example, I had started hanging out with this one girl. We hung out a few weeks, and during a conversation I mentioned, "Y'know, some people think I'm gay." And she looked at me dead serious with shock, "You're not?"

I stared at this thread title trying to comprehend it for a while.

Yes, I have been thought to be gay.

(One day I'll convince my girlfriend I'm not just interested in her mind.)

I was in massage therapy school for 2 1/2 years, which has a very large gay community.
On one of our LAST DAYS after all that time together a girls who is very open about her homosexuality, told me she would love to go out partying with me, I said that would be fun. She told me she has a couple guys friends she think I would hit it off with........................
um, I'm not gay....
What???? she says, she totally thought I was- for 2 frickin' years!

Also when I moved from BC to redneck Alberta with both my ears pierced, and eyebrow.....well, I MUST be a "fuckin' fag" if I have that shit.

biggrin stupid people

Only once by a very drunk chick when I was out drinking with a good buddy of my who could be considered of gayish features if I can say something that blatantly narrowminded. Given however the fact that I don't not look gay, beard and beer gut, we then moved on to hitting on chicks instead of just talking to each other.

Yes.
My mom asked me twice in high school if I was gay.
In college, I was introduced to a friend of a friend, and she said "yeah, you're that gay guy right?" That was kind of horrifying really. I mean, there's nothing wrong with being gay, but I have a hard enough time getting a date without strangers thinking I like the mens.

Plus the usual name calling in high school. Did you know that when people much larger than you call you a fag, blowing them a kiss is not the best course of action?

I work at starbucks. I'm a guy. Technically, I should be gay. Thus, confusion arises while I work.

The most common phrase said by a co-worker when I ask why they thought I was gay, "Well, why wouldn't I?"

Doesn't do a ton for the ego, but it's understandable.

Edited to say: Not that there's anything wrong with that. biggrin

I have been thought to be gay. A person who was supposed to be my roomate in college didn't move in with me, instead he bunked with a friend across the hall, crowding the other guys roomate, who didn't appreciate it.

The two of them would look at me funny sometimes, which was odd because I never even spoke to them once (they were the dorm floor's jerks). Then, there was a multitude of gay-themed literature shoved under my door, about joining the LGBTA and whatnot, and then the lightbulb went off over my head. "Oooh, they think I 'm gay" I thought, which ticked me off because these two knucledraggers were hating me for a stupid reason, and they were wrong about it to boot.

Eventually I got a cool roomate out of the deal who taught me the immortal truth that, if you smoke large amounts of weed six days in a row, the seventh day is a free high. So it all worked out in the end.

Exact same thing happened to me in high school. I was like "..."

I can act kinda gay around my female friends when I'm really comfortable, I talk about guys being hot and stuff. Sometimes I do it around people I don't know without realizing it and it leads to confusion.

all the time while i was in high school and a little bit after too. i stopped playing sports after i was 12, i wasn't a walking hard on about girls, i was and still am very quiet. i was always reading a book or comic book during downtime in school and/or drawing. no fantasy drawings either or basketball boobed chicks with he-man looking guys superhero stuff either.

after my hair started to fall out, i guess i started to look manlier or something.

though it was nice getting compliments and be hit on by good looking gay dudes.

I was at a new year's eve party 1990/1991 and was apparently the only straight guy there. This dude who made his own bondage ware kept asking me to turn around and then asked if I was 'yummy.' I said I'm straight and he was like 'Well, if can't have you then my hag Missy will." and indeed she did.

Yep on several occasions,

Once when out looking at tomb stones with my grandmother she asked me if I was gay

Another time my gay friend thought I was gay enough that he tried to do me while sleeping next to me on my kitchen floor

Many Many times in bars, however there I have a tendancy to be confused with being canadian and gay cause you know how those two things must just go together whatever

Oh course it dosent help that I have made out with guys on several occasions and I dont usually hide if I think a guy is hot or not soo I guess its my own damn fault really lol biggrin

Although I must admit I really do like the look on a girls face when she finds out I am not gay, cause it seems to me that most of the time they are disapointed that they cant have you .......

A lot of people questioned my sexuality when I was in high school and straight. Now people assume I'm straight instead of pansexual because I fit a lot of masucline stereotypes... whatever, people are stupid.

Any way, who cares if they think you're gay? Unless the issue of attraction comes up, it's not an issue.

*Takes notes*

There were people in high school that thought I was gay. That was torture. I've been hit on by 2 or 3 guys, but I only think one of them was serious.

I think my sister asked me once if i was in a semi-serious way.

I was in a club once with loads of friends and 2 guys in a row asked me for my number.
Strange night indeed.

You don't happen to still have her number?
