I have a large group of friends that all hangs out together regularly. This is usually good, but two of the people in the group broke up last night. Now there is the possibility that we can only keep one in the team. This is bullshit- I didn't cheat on either of them.
Just pick the one you like better. I'm joking, but I'm also serious.
I was actually in the break up end of a situation like that a couple of months ago, and I'm still sort of living through the aftermath. My friends decided they wanted to be friends with both of us. I was kinda insulted because they were all my friends first, but what can ya do? Now it's driving a wedge between us.
There's a more adult way to do this, but I haven't been able to manage it.
Actually, I take my own side in messy breakup situations and refuse to abandon either of my friends. If they think I'm giving up on their Ex-SO just because they had a tiff and aren't boning anymore then they're underestimating the value I place on friendship.
They may be able to be around each other after they've had some time to cool off. Until then hang out with them alternately and get ready to listen to some bitching.
I can always go for some good bitching. It's kinda dick, but listening to other peoples "that bitch had the nerve to do/say this:...." stories always makes me feel better about what my bitches have done/said to me.
I find myself in this position a lot and it's really only a big deal if one or the other of the now split couple makes it a big deal. It's all a matter of how mature they can be and I'm pretty good at setting my foot down when someone wants to make drama about shit like that.
Oh this kind of situation sucks... hopefully time will heal any bitterness and they will both want to be your friend so much that they'll learn to hang out with each other peacefully again... you can hope...
