I had a heated argument with my boy last night, after watching Clerks on DVD. I need your opinions people:

When asked how many sexual partners you've had, do you count those you've just engaged in foreplay with? Or just those you've had sexual intercourse with?

Is this just another case of men trying to bulk up their sexual partner count, and women trying to slim theirs down? What is the correct way to determine the all important number?

I count in which guys have acctually placed their penis within my vagina. (Now if there was a seperate count of guys who have only done anal that would count too, however I have none of those)

Females I count if either I have or they have performed oral.... Which usually is both.. but eh.

Foreplay does not count. (Except in the terminology of lesbain sex, were a little limited) and yes that's not fair. But those are my rules.

There is a coversation about this in Kevin Smith's next movie, Chasing Amy.

Odd, he starts a discussion in one movie and then continues it in his next with completly different charecters.

Genital, anal, oral.
(But I seem to be in the minority by counting oral.)
Either way, my count is a whopping 1.

i only count intercourse. i think if my partner asked me to specify every sexual activity i've ever engaged in, i'd be creeped out and a bit put off.

I never, ever, ever answer this question when it is posed, and in my own experience so far, I only think it is younger girls who are concerned with this. Having never been asked by a girl over the age of 22.

But in the event that my arm were twisted enough to ever give a hard numerical count, I would consider only actual penetration counting as sex, not foreplay, not oral, not fingering, not making out.

No matter how the discussion goes I've found it always goes downhill.
It's just a bad question. I refuse to answer it too.
Besides, I think how you go about getting the sex is more important than the numbers anyway.

I count penetration and the two girls with whom penetration was about to, and would, have occured if not for freakish misfortune. If we're talking about the sort of "dude's bullshit session" count, anyway. If a partner asked me, I'd just count actual penetration.

Ahh Clerks, it brings out the best in people.

If the question is sexual partners the I'd only count the ones I've actually had sex with. Now if they asked how many have I'vee been sexually engaged with, then it'd be a different story.

I just never knew some people counted anything other than intercourse as sex. (Aside from lesbian activities.) But here, the majority rules. I'm right, dammit. Horray!

I'm glad as my relatively small number would have tripled if I were to include those who I've meerly 'sexualy engaged with'.

Social pressure for a girl to stay as virginial as possible is bad enough without also fearing foreplay.

I have found asking is the perfect way to get yourself into a bit of the old nastiness. Typically nobody benefits from counting and telling. Always makes one or the other jealous.

...My friends and I had to define sex once for the purposes of a bet.

The definition we came up with was if you achieved orgasm through physical contact with someone else. I think it's about the best definition I've seen.

I guess that might work for most men, but probably not so much for women. I guess I shouldn't speak for all woman-kind though. But i can speak from my own personal experience, and some of the most passionate, intimate, intense sex (that is to say, penetration) I've ever had didn't end in orgasm for me. But it was still sex, I assure you.

If you can catch HIV from it, I'd count it as a sexual partner unless bloodletting is involved. You can catch all sorts of diseases through oral sex, so anyone who is asking about my sexual history needs to hear about those I've just swapped oral favors with as well.

Hah, if I had to count oral, the number would be um, completely unknowable.. would require sitting down for hours literally going through my life day by day..

It's hard enough keeping track of the other number, let alone that.

And it's not even that HIGH!.

I think that if you have foreplay with someone ant it feels just as sexual to you as if you actually were having sex, sex meaning the way a majority of people see it where you have to have your genitals in the act.. I'd say that counts just as much.
