I'm sure I'm not the only one who feels this way, and it's probably a biological process that's supposed to happen, but I've always wondered what causes it.

After a good orgasm (or four), I'm always extremely dizzy with a bit of achy lightheadedness. My eyes can hardly focus if I've had more than a couple, and this persists for about twenty minutes. It's moreso if I haven't eaten, and the degree to which I feel dizzy and have a need to close my eyes and stay sitting/lying down is directly proportional to the number of orgasms. I can hardly walk. When I try, I end up tilting and slamming into things. I walk better when I'm drunk.

Is it the blood rushing from the brain to my girly bits? Is it some chemical overdose because of endorphins? Is it a combination of the two? Am I way off-base? (I'm hoping legionnaire has some information since neurobiology is his field).

I could do a Google search, but that would prevent discussion. How do YOU feel afterward, and is it similar? I know some men do it to wake up first thing in the morning, but it makes me sleepy, so is it different for each gender, or is it different on a personal basis?

Yeah, sometimes, if I'm i one of those "I just have to come right now or I'll fucking explode' moods, and force myself into it, I can get really dizzy and get a migraine. Sometimes get really nauseous, too.

My girlfriend's also never been able to have an orgasm; she says it's because every time she gets close "the sensation is so intense, I'm pretty sure I'm going to throw up."

I sometimes get headaches, stomachaches, and dizziness after powerful orgasms. Only when someone else gives me an orgasm though, never solo. And sometimes afterwards I get all emotional and start crying, which really pisses me off. Sex should not make you cry!

My theory is hormonal overload+rigorous exercise=crazy body reactions.

Heavy excercise will use up all your blood sugar. Also, I think you make a lot of adrenalin during sex (like other excitement) which burns sugar faster. What you're feeling is just being low on fuel. If you return to normal after a short rest or eating something (carbs) then you're fine.

The same for the hormonal over-load.

Dont panic about either of these conditions or it will take you a little longer to recover.

After a really intense orgasm, my eyesight gets blurry for a little while...

Is this where the "masturbation causes blindness" myth came from?

Oops. I guess I should clarify that this is during masturbation, not sex, so I'm not really exercising anything but my hand and the muscles in my abs/hips (they contract when I'm going to come).

If what you say about the blood sugar is true, that makes sense. I have the worst side effects if I do it before eating breakfast, so I'm assuming that's because it's taking FOREVER for my sugar to get normal instead of the usual twenty minutes.

Hmm...

Oh, Thistle... I've cried after sex many times. I think it's the rush of hormones. It usually only happens if I'm in love with the person. I always feel bad because they think something is wrong. tongue

I'd say the lightheadedness comes from the exertion, and you mentioning that it's worse if you haven't eaten makes me think this is most likely it. You're using up a lot of calories, and your body is telling you it's low on fuel.

And, Thistle, I've been there with girls who got super teary and emotional occasionally, and I was like, "What? I thought that was good! What'd I do wrong?"

Oh, no kidding. I didn't have my first orgasm until early last year. I THOUGHT I'd been having orgasms all that time, but I'd only gotten as far as the minute before everything starts spasming. I always stopped when I got to that point because it's so overwhelming if you don't know what's going to happen next.

One night, I figured I'd just see what happened, and pow... spasms, and I thought, "Well FUCKING DUH..." Then I cried into a pillow for about five minutes. That was nine years of sexual tension releasing. Wow.

Then I did it again. biggrin

Other than a feeling of satisfaction and all being right in the world, the pleasure of an orgasm doesn't create any extra sensations. I have read and heard from multiple people that an orgasm can relieve a minor headache. Twice, with the same girlfriend who insisted we have sex when I said I had a headache, the orgasm compounded the headache ten fold. The minor became a severe.

[xffan typin' here smile ] Myabe you're holding your breath when cumming? I know I do, and I can't help but hold it while I cum. It hurts my head soo badly, but it's intense and great. I feel tired, dizzy and sleepy after.

My body often feels tingly afetrward, especially my face. I attribute this to lack of oxygen to my brain caused by all the screaming.

exercise drains energy, an orgasm drives your full blood power on the bottom parts, so brain lacks momentarily of "feeding"... smile
it's the same after your best dinner, stomach needs energy, and you feel nearly asleep... smile

orgasm always make me sleepy... unless i can get another one in short time wink

After a really strong orgasm, I'll get lightheaded and disoriented for awhile. I've felt sick a few times, as well. I imagine it's due to all the stress on your mind and body both.

sometimes if i try to hard to orgasm or if it's a really intense session, i end up holding my breath and getting a massive dose of head pain and stars afterwards.

the crying thing.... sometimes it just happens, i've done it a couple of times, it's mildly freaky when unexpected, but it usually makes the whole experience that much more stress relieving.

That might be another reason. I muffle all the gasping and screaming in a pillow since I have a roommate AND an upstairs neighbor. I'm so used to doing that that I do it even when they're both at work. tongue

So yeah... no more before-breakfast orgasms. I've been fucked in the head all day. I'm sticking with the nighttime routine since I can just fall asleep afterward. smile

Yeah I usually hold my breath too. Sometimes I'll see stars, sometimes afterwards my face or my mouth will tingle, and sometimes my ears ring as well. It's usually one or the other, I can't recall having more than one of those happen at once though..

My boyfriend is always weak-kneed. He blacks out sometimes. It was really scary the first few times but now we're pretty used to it.
