I'm lost

I thought this would be an interesting topic, since the theme of this website seems to be focused around non traditional forms of beauty. I would think this might mean being anti-breast implants, because the idea of women with bigger fake breast is one that is mainstream and pushed by men and mainly mainstream media (MTV, fashion mags, tv shows). However, I am pretty sure that some of the higher profile SG girls have breast implants, so I was wondering what the thoughts on this were.

Breast implants are a big turn off for me. I do believe it is a sign of insecurities in a person, no matter how many arguments they can give saying they feel more comfortable and confident with them. Being confident about one's own body is very attractive.

However, I could see this leading into even more arguments about what is acceptable alteration of one's body. Nose job, corrective eye surgury, tattoos, piercings, chin tuck, elbow brain removal.

Anyone have any thoughts?

Its a shame that girls feel that they need bigger boobs to look more attractive. I prefer smaller boobs myself. I dont think i could be with somebody who has fake boobs.

but your last paragraph makes a good point

How many of you who think breast implants are gross would support a woman's decision to have her breasts reduced if she felt they were larger than she liked?

I think both my mother and sister should have that operation. Neither of them will because of the cosmetic disfigurement. My mom has slipped discs in her back, mainly because of her overburden of frontal assets. My sister is going down the same path. Sure, the problem could be eliminated by strengh training their abs.. but I don't see that as a realistic for them. It's the womens choice what they do to their body, period.

breast reduction is not considered cosmetic surgery.

neither is breast reconstruction (after a woman has her breast removed)

both can be covered by insurance

breast implants are cosmetic surgery

not really sure they can be compared

My personal opinion is I don't like implants. It's a non-issue in deciding if I'm attracted to someone. There are more important things to consider.

If a woman wants bigger/smaller/nicer/uglier/flappier/more magical boobs, I think she has the right to get them done.

I'd want the same right to get my "Sir LanceAlot" enlarg... I mean, reduced... har har har.

In terms of liking "fake" boobs, it really depends. If they LOOK super fake, then no, I don't like them. However, I'm finding it more and more difficult to spot them, but the old models are still quite easy... like terminators I guess. Soon we will have liquid metal boobs that can look any way they want!

Not every woman who decides to have a reduction does so for the sake of her back. The girls I know who've had reduction surgery counted other people's responses to the size of their breasts as a very important part of their decision. This means that while insurance companies may not consider reduction a cosmetic surgery the motivation for getting it done can be.

So how does that differ from getting implants?

personally, im against elective surgery for just about any reason. but if someone else wants to change their body in order to feel better about themselves, more power to them. i find it a bit of a turnoff though, and in most cases find the person more attractive before than after the surgery. nothing wrong with a big nose or low cheekbones, its all about confidence.

An interesting question is, Would you support a woman you cared about decision to get cosmetic breast implants.

I personally would not, and try and discourage it.

My cousin is a plastic surgeon and he is getting everybody in my family to get cosmetic plastic surgery and it bugs me out a little.

I am sorry Rando, but I stopped reading your post after this, because I couldn't stop giggling.

As far as fakies go - well-done ones are nice. Poorly-done ones are bad.

Boobies are boobies, yo.

Yes. I'd urge her to not go into it blindly, to research the procedure and her doctor before going ahead, but yes.

I am really against surgery because I think it's a crime to mutilate your body and risk, even in a simple proceedure like this, permenant health problems or death simply so you can fit someone else's image. Bigger, smaller, you name it - if there's not a health problem, I'm really against it.

...but by the same token, I support everyone's right to do it. I'll say your crazy and that it's a bad idea, but if you really want to do it - it's YOUR call. Other than some good natured debate about the social impact on our world and how it is sad people are willing to undergo such pain to obtain a look, this will not alter my re-action. If my girlfriend wanted every single piece of plastic surgery done, but I cared for her for other reasons, I would drive her to the hospital while at the same time wishing she wouldn't!

People have the total right to make decisions in their life, though, and not be harassed about such decisions. I'd never reach that level. (PS: As I've stated in a previous thread, I actually prefer smaller breasts.. though I am certinally not unattracted to large, medium, or anything inbetween. I think going EITHER way for cosmetic reasons makes me kind of sad that someone would feel so bad they are willing to cut up their body.. and angry at society for causing it.)

I'm sure the decision to get implants has a lot to do with a womans need for acceptance, however, I'm sure it also has a lot to do with the woman wanting to feel comfortable with herself and proud of her body.

I've considered it lately. I've breastfed 2 kids, and while my breasts are still pretty nice looking, they're just not firm like they used to be, I'm not really sure what exactly my motivation would be to get them, I guess it would be mostly for my own personal comfort, since I wouldn't go around letting people feel my new firm breasts. wink

I think that it's personal choice. Who knows what i'd do to myself if I actually had excess money (like excess money exists). I would hope that I'd have the self-confidence or whatever it takes to be satisfied with what I have. However, I am secure enough with myself to admit that I am not now. I wouldn't do the breasts, but I ain't mad at lipo.....Self-acceptance is a process!
