From an early age I've always had crushes on geeks:
Simon - Alvin & The Chipmunks
Bunsen - The Muppet Show
Squints - The Sandlot
Egon - Ghostbusters
Donatello - Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

And recently:
Rivers Cuomo - Weezer
Mike - SLC Punk

Is it their glasses? Is it their intelligence? Is it their shyness & lack of social skills? Does anyone else feel the same and if so, which geeks do you love?

*delurks*

there seem to be a lot of nerd boys on this site. i say that both generally noticing, and also from specific examples such as the movie poster thread -- there's some nerd talent being demonstrated realtime in there. as a fellow nerdboy, i think the reason girls are attracted to the geek type is that those girls figured out that geeks are perhaps more often introverted, introspective, and over the long haul, that makes the geek type more interesting to have around. like a fine wine you keep locked in the basement til you're ready to show them off at a fancy party. "mm.. your nerd is *swish swish* pasty, sarcastic, and nutmeggy." then again i could be wrong. generalizing on my first board post might be a faux paux, but every guy i know is immediately attracted to a woman wearing glasses, nearly unconditionally. ^//^

I like them because they're usually interested in stuff. That's always a plus. They always have something interesting to talk about. If they're good looking, don't let them get away. That's entertainment for life, right there.

here is a song for all you girls by BIF NAKED

Regular Guy

let me tell ya 'bout
The kinda guys that like me
There in Jail
Either that or they are 'slumming'
or 'walking on the wild side'
I guess you could say
I'm just like Jody Watley
"lookin for a new love'
I don't think I'm asking for much in a boyfriend
Here's what I want:
I'm just lookin for
a four eyes really square regular guy (just like you)
wouldn't it be cool? couldn't it be you?
Please be you.

Let me tell ya bout the kinda guy I look for:
ticklish,
and he likes cherry popsicles.
he like sno-cones, he rides BMX
I want a boy who can lie in bed all day with me - holding hands
I don't think I'm asking for much in a boyfriend
Here's what I want

I'm just lookin for
a four eyes really square regular guy (just like you)
wouldn't it be cool? couldn't it be you?
Please be you.

I kinda picture her writing this song thinking about me smile

Yes, a good looking geek is the best thing in the world. I've found all the geeks I've dated to be more caring and less mean, and also more interesting. Not that that means all geeks are more interesting, I've met some pretty terrible ones.

Yeah Morgan is right..a lot of them seem to be more into you then other guys are..also they are more of the type not to follow the bandwagon so to say.

I think it's more an acquired taste, for me.

But I acquired it... love

I think it began with Noel from Felicity when I was 13... wow, I hate admitting that...

I heard someone sum it up once that a geek is a nerd who has some social skills. A geek can be cool; a nerd cannot. I think that a lot of the times, geeks have difficulty running into people who can appreciate their "quirks". I emphasize "quirks" because I'd rather live in a world where such behavior is normal -- people who get passionately involved with things that make you think. Most people seem content to shrug reality off and just flip to the next channel when they're asked to consider different possibilities. Bleah, thats almost off-topic. Anyhoo, the point being, geeks get frustrated when they cant find someone they believe really appreciates them being them.

I also love Mike from SLC punk and Egon. I think nerdy guys are just more interesting a lot of times. Anyone who knows a lot about something is interesting to talk to, even if that something is typically "nerdy"

mm, geeky guys. i adore them. every single one of my meaningful relationships have been with geeky guys. i need someone geekier than me; if i outgeek a guy, it just doesn't work very well. ^_^ even though i constantly insult your passion for magic: the gathering and d&d, i really do love it! (and of course, i am a big video game nerd, so my boys have to outgeek me there.)

I think it's funny that you should mention Mike from SLC punk, that character is based on my former drama teacher in high school Michael Alvarez. He grew up with the guys who made the movie. He's married. Yeah he's an odd one (to say the least) but he was my fav. teacher.

My favorite geeks etc. include Rivers also. I can't think of any others right off the top of my head.
