You're in love with an idea. I'm very sorry you believe that makes you "romantic." There's another word I'd use for it, personally, but it would be quite rude of me to say it.
I really wanted to make this point clear, but for some reason I couldn't come up with all the fancy words like "objectification" when I tried to make my post. Courtly love is ridiculous, and people have called it out as ridiculous since, like, Shakespeare. Why you think it would have any value is beyond me.
Beginning a "relationship" with a woman by saying "I've loved you with all my soul ever since I saw a picture of you, and I will do anything to have you" reduces that woman to an object to be attained. He's not in love with her for who she is or what she does, he's in love with an idea of her he's conjured up in his head based on her physical appearance, and because he's set her up as something that must (and will) be won, it reduces her further to something that exists solely to validate him.
he needs to stop putting the pussy on a pedestal...
