Despite the fact that the noise level from this thing makes me sound like a sex god descended from Valhalla (complete with beard, viking helmet, and Mjolnir).. I do have roommates and I'd like to quiet the thing down so the only noise being made can be stifled with a hand, gag, teddy bear, modified rubber duckie, whatever.

It's a metal frame with removable slats.. kind of like this..
.. but with more thinner metal slats instead of wooden ones.

Any ideas?

If part of the problem be the bed hitting the wall, either pull it away or attach padding to the back of the head board or whatever part is hitting the wall. Now for the frame it self, I am not sure exept perhaps some how lubricating the joints becauses that where its moving at or one would hope but how to do so with out staining/damaging bed and/or sheets.

i have roommates too and it sucks trying to be quite when you have a noisy bed! Mine is all metal and it creaks and shakes and makes so much noise we usually do it on the floor and that results in rug burn frown

Yeah I have a hardwood floor - so sex on the floor isn't really an option.. it's pretty uncomfortable, except on rare occasion.

I think it may be the slats causing the squeaking, not banging the wall or anything, in which case it's going to be really hard to fix.

I might just take the girl to a bed store and test out frames for their sonic qualities. I can't believe I've never thought of that before, but I suppose most of my previous bedframe acquisitions were based on price. I would just ditch the frame and put the mattresses on the floor, but that's so not classy, and there's no bedframe to tie/handcuff people to, so that's out.

You gotta put a thick blanket or some pillows down for that. Easy fix.

I had this problem...

I attached the bed to the wall. No movement = no noise.

That and with slippery hard wood floors we ended up on the other side of the room.

It's a bit pricey, esp. with shipping from Germany, but I love the design. Don't know if it would be quiet though.

The commercial / video demos may be the most effective I've ever seen for any kind of product. Sweet christ.

Rubber stoppers. Try getting those things that people give out for free to open jars (usually a triangle or other shape) with an advertisement on one side, made of two different textures. All rubber. One side for your hand, one side for the jar. Wrap it around the ends of the slats. You would need 16.

Headboards/bedframes aren't entirely necessary for a good tie-down.

Just sayin' is all.

I just have sex when my roommate isn't home.

I have the same kind of bed, and live in a trailer.

I lost my virginity on a two bed dorm loft. The whole hall knew. Creakk Thudd, Creakk Thudd. We actually stopped to try and tighten the bolts to see if we could help. It didn't. We changed venues next time, but we weren't going to stop that first night.

Put a rug on the floor under it, and put a blanket down between the slats and the box frame. Should help.

My room doesn't have 2 suitable anchor points for a hammock, though I do have one and I have thought about it. I'd have to set it up in the living room, which is a solution that would cause other problems. I have to get a stud finder, but I think I could get a hook into the frame around my closet door that would support a swing - but probably not the most ideal place.

Good point. I still like a good headboard to hold onto though.

That's probably the best advice I've gotten so far.

Did that work at the San Remo?

I was right across the hall. Fortunately I always keep earplugs in case of emergencies.
