this is my first post i didnt know where to post it so if this is the wrong place plz dont crucify me be easy on the noob

it seems that everyone i have ever talked to about the day has been heavily on one side or the other and both groups tend to have very valid arguements on the topic

i for one am against it b\c i tend to think its a holiday that is almost a popularity contest if you have a bf or gf then great u can celebrate a holiday if not sit back in the shadows and just wait out the day i also think its intentions at one point were pure and true but now with hallmark and whitmans and other companies it seems to be just another commericalized holiday

Welcome to SG!

As far as Valentine's Day, though, I don't care if you're sing;e or in love on that day...it's a bullshit, madeup holiday...moreso than any other. If you really want to celebrate Valentine's Day...make your special someone a nice dinner, buy a good bottle of wine & watch your favorite movie. Buying overpriced shit that neither of you need....is horseshit.

Start a pubic hair thread. Go on, you know you want to. wink

While I don't have strong negative feelings about Valentine's Day, it doesn't mean anything to me. I don't need a specific day to appreciate those I love.

Love the one you love every day.

Personally hate VD day - Hallmark holiday, makes you sad if you're single, expensive and unrealistic expectations if in a realationship.

Been in both places. now in neither.

I'm trying to be totally honest and not snarky here; if you continue to post non-pubic hair related threads, don't ask if the size of your cock is okay, hold off on starting threads in hook-up for at least a year, and start using punctuation, you won't ever get flamed.

Ironically, I like it as a terminally single person. I derive great enjoyment witnessing the coin dropped by those obliged to justify their "love."

And, I've said it in similar threads, but I really like Valentine's Day. We have plenty of days to celebrate war, I think one day for love is pretty nice. It's when people start putting too many expectations on each other that it becomes a problem.

My husband and I are going to do just what Cash said, I bought a bottle of wine, and he's making me dinner. We show each other we love one another every day, but taking one extra special day is pretty nice too.

Me and the wife do the same thing but I have always hated the expectations of the holiday when single or newly dating. Too much pressure on one day day when you can spread it over a whole yaer.

Want to get flamed? Show your cock to everyone. I mean, EVERYONE. And definitely don't use spoilers.

However, Valentine's Day... pfft. I'm glad the whole thing is nearly over. Not because I don't have people to love--I do--but I love them every day. And I don't want presents, I just want to spend time with those people.

You've already got anniversaries (and you can celebrate first meeting, first official date, first kiss, blah, on forever) which are far more meaningful if you want to celebrate, and that doesn't involve my eyes being assaulted by pink lacey underwear whenever I go into town to buy things.

I've never had strong feelings towards Valentine's Day. It just comes and goes like any other day, except when I do the things I normally do, people look at me like I'm strange (like when I spent the evening watching John Carpenter's "The Thing", and my parents said, "Yeah, that's reall appropriate for Valentine's Day" :whateversmile.

I think it's a good excuse to be all romantical, but I'm a little wary of holidays named after saints in general.

I kind of take it in the context of the person whom I'm dating at the time. As long as I don't feel some ungodly pressure to buy expensive things for a girl, Valentine's Day can be nice, and I do enjoy treating people to surprises. On the other hand, if the girl I'm with is overly holiday-oriented, I tend to get a little down around V-Day and I'm not as likely to come up with something unique.

I bought a cookie cake for my girlfriend this year because she said a few months ago that she'd never had one. That's sweet, right? (Pun intended! biggrin )
