I don't know if there's a topic on this, but....there is a huge debate regarding porn and relationships. Women getting jealous of their men watching porn when the women aren't around or at work or whatever or porn being degrading to women or porn star being a "valid" profession, etc.
I was wondering what your thoughts are about this are.

Do you think that porn or a hurtful or helpful tool in relationships?

Is porn degrading to women and are just for men's sake?

If you are in a relationship, how do you feel about your significant other watching porn whether it's offline or online?

I'm sure that there are a bunch of other issues too, such as AIDS/STDS, etc that might be brought up too and the risk factor.

I'm interested to hear everyone's opinions. smile

I like porn and I'm a girl. I enjoy porn, mostly on my own but I don't object to enjoying it with my partner on occasion. My boyfriend only annoys me with porn when a) he has two hundred tabs of porn on his laptop and he should be doing college work, b) when he looks at porn on my internet connection which could get me in trouble with the university and c) when he's pretending I can't see him wanking off when I'm in bed waiting for him.

Other than that, uh, what's the problem? If porn is degrading to women, well, why are so many women in it? They obviously don't object. That Burger King advert on the other hand, "I'm a Man"... that's offensive to women. Porn is not.

I'm not sure how STDs fit into someone watching porn...

confused

But I digress... I think it's kind of sexy if my guy watches porn. Bonus points for watching it with me some times. Basically people masturbate, even people in relationships. So those people often like a little help. Not at all a big deal.

As far as it being degrading, porn encompasses a lot of things. Yes, some of it is pretty damn degrading to women but some of it is pretty degrading to men. I think if I came home to find a boyfriend masturbating to a video of a chick squashing a guys balls with her high heels, I'd be a little more concerned. As far as the middle of the road stuff, it's just fantasy.

Well I'll volunteer myself to get slammed. I, for the most part, find a lot of porn pretty offensive and degrading. Women are portrayed as bodies and not people. They're objects, not subjects. They exist as creatures to serve and please men with no real thoughts or motivations of their own. I can't help but wonder that if this is your 'fantasy,' your idealized woman, then is that what you would want for me? Would you rather I get great, big fake tits for your pleasure and shove as many dicks down my throat/in my pussy/up my ass as humanly possible?

That said, obviously not all porn is like that. In fact, the reason I like SG is because it is nothing like that at all. The girls here are models, not whores. They have personalities and intelligence. They are beautiful rather than just 'hot.'

And now I patiently await being slammed for my opinion. Go!

i guess it all depends on your honesty with her.

If you tell her you don't watch porn and then you're hiding in a closet with a portable DVD player jerking your meat to a porn, and get caught, she's probably going to be more pissed that you lied to her than anything else.

I barely watch porn when i am single, if i am in a relationship, i'd rather just be with her than play with myself.

Really? Where is this huge debate raging, because honestly, I've yet to see it raging anywhere near me.

And what the hell does STDs have to do with porn? What risk factors are there in watching porn?

Errr...there are many arguments as to why porn is or isn't degrading, but that ain't one. Sorry.

I think maybe they meant that watching porn is watching something which is potentially dangerous or even deadly (STDs) for the actors. Like watching a snuff film where someone really dies or something like that.

I don't give a shit if my man watches porn. I've been aware of all of them doing so and it doesn't bother me as long as they're attracted to me.

"The girls here are models, not whores. They have personalities and intelligence. They are beautiful rather than just 'hot.'"

I can't go along with that entirely. The girls here are models. Everyone has personality and intelligence. Beauty, though, is subjective, and unfortunately if you look at the numbers of comments, acting/looking "hot" seems to carry some weight, even here. I don't know how the models get paid on SG, but I -suspect- that the more popular a girl is, the more she gets paid (note: this may be untrue! I don't know!). At any rate (no pun intended), anyone who gets paid to get naked is a whore. So is anyone who gets paid to flip burgers or catalog books.
