It's fine, unless your older than say 20. In that case it's kinda sad and weird.

Why?

I'm not sure, it's just my opinion. "Sad" in that you want sex without emotional attachement or anything deeper. And "weird" in that it's just icky. That's just my two cents there. biggrin

You know, sometimes I want emotional attachment without sex. Is *that* sad and weird?

Or can we get past having a homogenized relationship ideal for everyone?

I generally think it's kind of weird when people are terrified of emotional connections. And there seem to be a lot of people that are that way.

I had one that lasted for about 6 months and then I moved out of the country. It was perfect and the sex was awesome.

It's not a matter of being terrified of emotional connections - it's a matter of not needing any to have sex with a person with whom one shares a physical attraction. If one develops, so be it. If one doesn't, so be it.

That's quite a lot to assume about someone who just happens not to want to be in an exclusive, predefined relationship at a given time in his or her life, or in a given circumstance. confused

they do work but it's kind of funny considering the best mix is usually one where the two people don't really get that excited about each other, it's just something to do when nothing good's on cable and the coffee shops closed or it's been a while for both. if you feel that strongly towards the person and have the depth of feeling to want to wake up next to them, you have absolutely no business getting your dick/pussy wet and imagining it can be only casual. you are going to put yourself in a world of hurt if the other person isn't in the same place. having said that, if you acknowledge you are both using the other person amiably, fuck it have fun. when you close your eyes and all you picture is that someone on their knees/or you on yours, or their mouth on your dick/clit- go for it, just be honest with yourself and them. and hey, i do love getting booty called. because sometimes sincere and uncomplicated is damn nice.

Every single fuckbuddy/friends-with-benefits relationship I've ever had has turned out just fine. Nobody developed feelings, nobody got jealous, nobody got attached. The longest one I had lasted for almost a year and ended when I got a boyfriend with no hard feelings on anyone's part.

It's perfectly possible (even easy, in my case) if you have the right people involved.

My current "booty buddy" is actually my ex... we have no problems having sex without emotions getting involved and making things mucky. He's actually giving me advice in getting back to the dating scene. Maybe we just have a very strange relationship, but he's still one of my best friends.

And the sex is totally awesome. smile

Yes the fuck buddy system works but the key is to have complete honesty at all times.

Your buddy must know they are a fuck buddy, otherwise they will probably invest more and end up being hurt.

You must never promise more than you are willing to give.

Be really clear on what you want from the friendship.

Don't spend the night together, after the sex go to bed alone, otherwise it just confuses things.

I had several fuck buddies for a long time because I don't believe that just because you haven't met "that special someone" that you should have to go without sex.

I am also sure there are entirely too many people out there in fucked up relationships just because the sex is good and they don't want to give it up.

Seriously, it can work really well if you are completely honest and open about what you want.

Occasionally someone will want more and if you don't feel the same then you should end it immediately. I don't believe people can really fall in love if all they are doing is having sex with you. They may think they are but I really don't see how that is possible. Some people do attach feelings to sex and they don't make very good fuck buddies so choose wisely.

Have fun. wink
