dateing someone who had an alternative job than the 9-5 weekday or variable shift retail standards?
For instance would you concider dateing a sailor (21/21 days on/off, 28/14, 90/45), or an oil rig worker (14/14), or an industrial diver (who might work 10 months straight with only a few days weeks off in the winter)... etc etc etc... keeping in mind that these people (men and women) are fully away for the entire time they are at work.
This by no means concludes the list of various jobs which keep people away from home for long periods of time... as there are about 30 different types of jobs which are also aboard ships that I can think of that aren't mentioned above but still keep people away from home 21+ days in a row.
So what would your initial reaction be meeting one of these types of people? Is it an automatic disqualifier? Is it a refreshing idea?
I know my Girlfriend dislikes it, but she accepts that I'm a sailor and that is what I do... it's what I love to do... and what I'm going to be doing the rest of my life. And while I'd much rather have her next to me than not for 4 weeks straight, I sure as hell won't be stuck in a cubicle. And obviously it wasn't a disqualifier for her because I was already a sailor when I met her.
