I noticed more and more girls that have not just tweezed some of their bushy brow, but almost totally pulled it down to nothing. What is this about. As a man I find it unattractive(and maybe a little neurotic). I know it has always been done, maybe I'm just noticing it more, but do most of you think it is attractive? Obviously no one wants to look look bert ,but what is the appeal?

Audrey Hepburn's are perfect, in my opinion. Most of the time, I really don't like when girls actually pluck them all out and draw them in because they usually put them in an unnatural position which has a weird distorted look to it.

Who cares if most people find it attractive? I'd choose being happy with my own appearance over being considered attractive by the majority of people.

Thick eyebrows for the win. All the little cholas who strip them down to nothing are just oblivious to the fact that Frida Kahlo was sex on wheels.

I am not saying there is anything wrong with it, I just don't understand the attraction, what about the aesthetic do you like?

We'd all love for that to be true but we all do things to be attractive to others. Even if you like something, validation from others who find you attractive, plays a part in everyones personal decision of dress.I belive that to be true, whether you wear Prada or second hand black attire.

We do things to be attractive to others, granted, but not neccessarily to be attractive to "most people".

I tweeze my eyebrows. They are perfectly groomed little slugs atop my eyes.

I wax mine because they have no shape. They arent overdone (I dont think, and, as a professional, thats all taht matters)
I HAVE to colour them in, for two simple reasons. 1. half of its blonde. 2. the inside bits were burned off in a lighter incident. They never grew back in properly.

Oh, I totally wasn't being bitchy, by the way. smile

I am a shaven-and-drawn-eyebrow advocate for the following reasons:

The arc accentuates the entire face.
The possibilities in style are endless, subtle changes make a huge difference.
It's extravagant.
It's a detail that highlights and lends a common thread to the entire rest of the styling.
It's luxuriously uneccessary, like jewellry.

My personal reasons:

I've been doing it for 8 years and I shudder when thinking of my very light, very formless, very bland natural eyebrows.

It's a hommage to the weimar republic.

But to get back to your original question, since I doubt you were originally addressing the drawn-on ones.
Even if it's weird looking for us, it's really just a matter of fashion. During the renaissance, going eyebrow- and even brow-less was quite a fad amongst roalty and aristocracy. Christian icons where often eyebrowless too.

Heheh. One of my co-workers is down to one and a half eyebrows due to overzealous tweezing. I find it very humorous.

I know I'm not a girl, but I'll just take this thread as an opportunity to come clean: I trim my eyebrows on a regular basis and I pluck out or shave the part in the middle and any strays, because I feel too young for old men eyebrows.

Oh, and to the OP: I really don't think they were trying to make Charlize particularly attractive for that movie. wink

Yours are for a certain effect, though. You don't look like you just got a little too tweezer-happy and couldn't stop yourself before you took off all your eyebrows, you know?

And from the photos I've seen, you're also not someone who was going for that certain effect and fucked it up . . . like the woman I saw in the airport the last time I flew whose crooked brown-pencil eyebrows were literally melting down her face. whatever

Also, P.S. Both Charlize and Aileen Wuornos are/were really blonde. Blonde eyebrows can be harder to see.

Unrelatedly . . . God DAMN, that was a phenomenal movie. She did such a fucking amazing job.

I don't tweeze, but I do get them waxed. My hair is very dark and I feel like I have caterpillars above my eyes if I don't. But I don't wax them to nothing, just enough to clean things up.

Personally i don't find it attractive at all.

There are some very beautiful ladies out there who throw us off by plucking their brows into a thin little line, or shaving them and drawing a thin line.

it just kind of creeps me out.

Also, most cases (I’ve witnessed) when someone plucks and draws their eyebrows, they arch them soo much that they end up looking pissed off around the clock. Anyone else notice this?

The Mona Lisa actually used to have eyebrows. They were wiped off by some cleaner guy who didn't know what he was doing.
