I don't know, dude, that last Missions of Burma record was pretty damn good...haven't heard Sonic Nurse yet, though...but a bad SY record is more interesting that most bands' good records, so, you just might be right....

i got the both the DVD and the CD.

i love sonik. i do. i just have a hard time hearing the same ideas played over and over again... SONIC NURSE is alot like MURRAY STREET.

remember the difference between EVOL and SISTER and DAYDREAM NATION and GOO?

i hear every time one of their new records comes out that this is the best record since daydream nation... mURRAY st was good. SONic NursE is solid... but you know it all runs together... really.

(ok ok... i know athat after 23 years of lp making...can any band still make good shit? other than miles davis... no. so god bless SY. KILL YR IDOLS WITH SONIK DETH!)

Sonic Nurse is different than Murrray St, for sure. Keep listening and you'll notice some crazy shit going on in Dripping Dream and New Hampshire.

Mtlqueen and I saw SONIC YOUTH perform most of SONIC NURSE last night at the Troubadour and it was fucking GENIUS!! It's one of my favorite Sonic Youth records ever! (and I've been buying them since Sister came out in '87) You gotta pick it up this weekend....

I think it's good but not great. I prefer the new My Dying Bride so far....I'm sure there's something else but my brain's frozen right now.

"I think it's good but not great."

listen again. takes a couple of times for it to sink in, just like every sonic youth cd.

exactly... right now I'm really digging the middle of the album. Starting from "Kim Gordaon and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's Hand Cream" through "Dude Ranch Nurse"

Fucken-A, that hand cream song.... I rarely ever remember song names, but this one already has a great name for me to screw up. When she sang it at the Troubadour it sounded so awesome... I totally felt the first time I heard Goo.

i just realized that the song 'pattern recognition' is about, at least in part, the novel 'pattern recognition' by william gibson. the allusions to coolhunters, brand names and 'footage heads' can not be coincidence.

I've listened to it a dozen or so times over the last couple of days and I've been listening to sonic youth for over a dozen years. As a whole I guess the best way I can describe this record is that it's just a bit too simple and not in a really great minimalistic way like some of their others.

I just remembered my choice for album of the year (so far) Khanate, Things Viral...maybe the most disturbing record ever made.
