All you trans-sexual nazi eskimos and gay Jewish black dudes, gather around to talk about the brilliance/silliness/guilty pleasure that is:

"I even think its kinda cute the way
you poison my coffee just a little each day...
....sometimes I get to thinking you don't love me anymore"

Wierd Al - "You Don't Love Me Anymore"

I'd rather rip out my intestines with a fork
Than watch you going out with other men
I'd rather slam my fingers in a door
Again and again and again and again

(Oh can't you see what I'm trying to say, darlin')

I'd rather have my blood sucked out by leeches
Shove an icepick under a toenail or two
I'd rather spend eternity eating shards of broken glass
Than spend one more minute with you

My anthem.

i've actually met and spoken with weird al a few times. he's really nice and incredibly smart and i am not ashamed to say i am a fan of his music.

i saw him perform live once. it was the third best concert i've ever seen right after tom waits and melt banana. i even had the pleasure of meeting his parents before the show. about a year ago they were found dead in their house in san diego from carbon monoxide poisoning. i'm glad i got to meet them and tell them how talented i think their son is.

The first two concerts I ever saw were Weird Al concerts. Talented? Yes, he's great on stage. My cup of tea? Not since grade 9 or so...

He's a funny guy. I used to listen to him constantly, though I can't remember the last time I did.

I met him in a swamp down in dagoba
Where it bubbles all the time like a giant carbonated soda
S o d a, soda

I saw the little runt sitting there on a log
I asked him his name and in a raspy voice he said yoda
Y o d a, yoda
Yo-yo-yo-yo yoda

Well, Ive been around, but I aint never seen
A guy who looks like a muppet, but hes wrinkled and green
Oh, my yoda
Yo-yo-yo-yo yoda

Well, Im not dumb, but I cant understand
How he can lift me in the air just by raising his hand
Oh, my yoda
Yo-yo-yo-yo yoda yo-yo-yo-yo yoda

Well, I left home just a week before
And Ive never ever been a jedi before
But obi wan, he set me straight, of course
He said, go to yoda and hell show you the force

Well Im not the kind that would argue with ben
So it looks like Im gonna start all over again
With my yoda
Yo-yo-yo-yo yoda yo-yo-yo-yo yoda

Yoda
Yo-yo-yo-yo yoda yo-yo-yo-yo yoda

So I used the force
I picked up a box
I lifted some rocks
While I stood on my head
Well, I wont forget what yoda said

He said, luke, stay away from the darker side
And if you start to go astray, let the force be your guide
Oh, my yoda
Yo-yo-yo-yo yoda

I know darth vaders really got you annoyed
But remember, if you kill him, then youll be unemployed
Oh, my yoda
Yo-yo-yo-yo yoda

Well, I heard my friends really got in a mess
So Im gonna have to leave yoda, I guess
But I know that Ill be coming back some day
Ill be playing this part till Im old and gray

The long-term contract that I had to sign
Says Ill be making these movies till the end of time
With my yoda
Yo-yo-yo-yo yoda yo-yo-yo-yo yoda

Yoda yo-yo-yo-yo yoda yo-yo-yo-yo yoda
Yoda yo-yo-yo-yo yoda yo-yo-yo-yo yoda

Yoda yo-yo-yo-yo yoda yo-yo-yo-yo yoda
Yoda yo-yo-yo-yo yoda yo-yo-yo-yo yoda

Yoda yo-yo-yo-yo yoda yo-yo-yo-yo yoda
Yoda yo-yo-yo-yo yoda yo-yo-yo-yo yoda

I've dropped many a deuce in the stall across from my college radio station where he recorded "my balogna"

Also, when he played that school a few years ago, he went and visited his old dorm room after the show and partied on down.

I would pay $10 to see Weird Al leeching off some college student's bong, while the kid screams "We're gonna party like it's 1699!"

RISE FROM YOUR GRAVE!

So, am I the only one that occasionally listens to Weird Al not because he's funny, but because he's incredible? The guy is one of the most talented vocalists I've ever heard. He manages to simultaneously mimic the artist he's parodying so well that it's always immediately apparent who he's riffing on, yet still retain enough of his own style as to be easily identifiable as himself. On a sheer technical level, that's hard, man. It requires not only a fairly impressive vocal range, but a deeply intuitive grasp of music.

Plus, y'know, the lulz.

Oh yes. I've been listening to Weird Al since I was a kid, but it wasn't until I was an adult that I recognized the fact that he sings pretty damn close to the original vocalist. My favorites of his aren't necessarily the straight-up song parodies he does, but the "style pastiches" he'll do- the songs like "Dare To Be Stupid", "Germs", or "Bob"- where he imitates a band or style of music in general.

But yeah- Weird Al is extremely talented.
