Music is music. I get slagged off for stuff I like. I'll like what I like! Mainstream bands don't have to be shit! Unless it's pop. Pop is shit.

Avril Lavigne sold out here in less than a freakin' day! And, to make things worse, my favourite band in the world Our Lady Peace are having to SUPPORT her, and I can't get tickets! Well, I may be able to go guestlist. But all these sodding tenny boppers are stopping from seeing one of the greatest musical groups in history.

Avril Lavigne should be supporting Our Lady Peace man!

OLP is supporting Avril? Jesus.

Um, hate to break it to you, but pop is short for popular. So if it's mainstream, it IS technically pop.

Cash & Stiles, I love you. Am I still allowed to like Pink?

Here's the real twister: by saying "OLP are supporting Avril? Jesus." was I pitying Avril? Or OLP? Or Britain, for having to endure either of them?

It's funny. OLP is really damn good. Better than a lot of bands we have to listen to day by day. Although I'll admit I'm not impressed by their latest album, their previous albums are rock solid. I love OLP, always have and always (hopefully) will. OLP supporting Avril? BS...what were they thinking???

I won't deny that OLP are solid. Jeremy Taggert is a fan-damn-tastic drummer, but I'm kinda sick of the CRTC-imposed 30% minimum Canadian Content rule that means 102.1 in Toronto plays them EVERY FIFTEEN FRICKIN MINUTES! Ahhhhhh!! Still, this tour must be a shameless act of self-promotion, otherwise, I'd suggest fragging their publicist/booking agent.

Yeah, but their old stuff? I'm talkin Starseed and Naveed, and Automatic Flowers. I bet they do play them every 15 minutes, but only their newer album...ugh.

Didn't Avril say in some interview that this is NOT her sound and that she is NOT a punk?

The new strategy these days is let the record company have their way with you on the first album, and when they're satisfied, bargain for complete creative control on the next.

She might surprise us...but I'm not holding my breath.

Yeah like that pink album surprised us. oh yeah that one rocked. ha. But atleast pink is hot.

And he returns!

Their latest album isn't as good as their older stuff, on the NAveed album. They're going to much for simple chords instead of their coolioso guitar solos and complicated chords progressions....

Has everyone heard of Charlotte Church 'being a rapper'. Hahahaha! That'll be the day.....

I was highly respectful of clumsy, OLPs' early album... but they haven't innovated at all since, and seem content in rehashing old formulas. tongue

I'd agree with that. 'Whatever' is pretty amazing though. They should have put that in their album. Jeremy once told me that Mike Turner, the original lead guitarist, wasn't the type of guitarist that fitted that band, but I disagree. Steve Mazur is good, yeah, but he hasn't been able to come up with anything as original as Mike did. Which sucks!

everyone on here better hope Avril Lavigne never joins this site. smile the poor girl. she seems to get more unmitigated hate for producing a pop record that people actually like than anyone I can think of.

If she did join the site she would immediately become radioactive as a topic and all people posting about her would be threatened and harassed. In these here parts we like to shoot fish in barrels and pat ourselves on the back for our marksmanship.

I totally agree with bullseye, she's cute, writes her own lyrics, and has a great voice. What where all the people hacking on here doing when they where 17. I doubt any where headlining a national tour.

It's important to remember that performers don't decide how much they get played on the radio. RADIO PROGRAMMERS are to blame for that.

Yes, "Complicated" was played, and is being played, too much. No, I don't like it much, either. It's still not her fault it's getting overplayed. It is the conglomeration of radio programming.

"Skater Boy" (I'm not typing it any other way, sorry) is a decent, spritely, silly song. I haven't left it on too many times when it came on the radio, but it's better than "Complicated".

"I'm With You" I kinda relate to, and the video for it, too. It's a nice sentiment. She feels distant from the people in the club, wants to meet her soul-mate, but the city is so cold, and she's all alone. It's late, she's worn out and lonely, and the fans are blowing her hair back dramatically (nice effect, LaChapelle).

...and Natas, I'm not choosy about the orifice.

fuckin exactly. I have a friend who really dislikes this site. They always rip on me for liking it. But I do notice that for someone who thinks this site is stupid, they spend a lot of time talking about it.

i think what y'all are forgetting is that avril is not being marketed towards cool, decent music lovin' people like yourselves. she is out there for fat old pedophiles who like to rub one out while watchin' mtv. also, since brittney and christina have re-marketed themselves as cum dumpsters, 10 year old girls need someone new to believe in. you're not gonna see an article (a serious one) on her in maximum rock & roll. not for you, my friends. drive on. it don't mean nothin'!

OLP and Avril? wow, a double bill a crap. what's sad is that Gob is opening for her tour in N.America. as for Avril she sounds like country to me. but it's better that pre-teen girls are trying to dress like her instead of like a prostitute like Britney or Xtina. there's my 2 cents
