Dr. Condoleezza Rice has revealed her "Ten Best Musical Works" in a special guest-edited by Bono edition of British newspaper "The Independent."

The US Secretary of State surprised readers with a few minorly hip selections that include "anything by" U2 (shocker), "Respect" by Aretha Franklin, "Rocket Man" by Elton John (reminds her of an old flame), "Celebration" by Kool & the Gang and --whoa-- Cream's "Sunshine of Your Love."

"I love to work out to this song," says Condoleezza. "Believe it or not, I loved acid rock in college - and I still do."

Note to the CIA: Condi did attend Stanford, which is in Palo Alto. Wasn't that the site of a mega LSD lab and Ken Kesey and the Merry Pranksters' Acid Tests? Interesting.

However, former concert-pianist Rice's all-time favorite desert island disc is the less-jamming but very respectable Mozart's Piano Concerto in D Minor.

In other musical tastes of the elite, Prince Charles names Leonard Cohen to be his top pick.

HRH The Prince of Wales describes Cohen as a "wonderful chap" and says: "The orchestration is fantastic and the words, the lyrics and everything. He is a remarkable man and he has this incredibly laid-back, gravelly voice."

Cool.

His sons Princes William and Harry disappoint by admitting their love of "American Idol." Ah, they are but wee lads yet.

And in retaliation to Ludcris's otherwise blasphemous suggestion in the May issue of GQ magazine, Oprah declares that she "really does like hip-hop."

The filthy rich multi-media mogul had this to say to radio presenter Ed Lover:

I listen to some hip-hop. I've been accused of not liking hip-hop and that's just not true.

I got a little Fiddy [50 Cent] in my iPod. I really do. I like 'In Da Club'. Have you heard the beat to 'In Da Club'?

Love that, love Jay-Z, love Kanye, love Mary J. Mary J. is one of my friends.

The lady doth protest too much, methinks.

Leonard Cohen ... has fantastic orchestration?
I mean, by god, I love Cohen, but in spite of the orchestration.

Charles could write some of his own stuff in the spirit of Cohen. "I remember you well in Whitehall giving me head on a 16th century bed etc."

Any man who hates dogs and children can't be all bad. Same for any man who likes Cohen.

If Oprah wanted to show she knew hiphopm why not give a shoutout to Dead Prez or Immortal Technique? Or at least NWA.
