It may burn Alice Cooper's ass that he's not in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, but few people can say that they have a key to a city.

Actually, let's say Alice got a key to a town; the town of Alice, North Dakota which holds 60 people. Yes, 60 people. Significantly less than Alice's road crew, I'm sure. Still, recognition is recognition and about 1000 people showed up for the key-giving ceremony this past weekend. I'll go ahead and assume that Cooper's visit to Alice brought more people to the town than anything that's happened there in the last 50 years.

There's not a whole lot of buildings to unlock with that key," Mayor Dan Lund said. "But Alice is a cool guy and Alice is a cool city _ so it's a fun thing to do."

And Alice definitely had a good time for a half-hour, which is probably 20 minutes more than it takes to see all of ... Alice.

"This is bigger than if the governor was coming out here," Councilman Ron Mulder said. Mulder and his wife, Jill, contacted Cooper's manager a few weeks ago about coming to Alice. "He shook hands and signed autographs," Jill Mulder said. "He was here 30 minutes tops but it was well worth it. He was grateful."

Today Alice is back to business as usual, however its 60 inhabitants will be going to work in top hats and black eye make-up. Cooper will be doing the same, as he's booked to rock Fargo (about 1 hour east of Alice) tonight before he heads off to Canada and Europe.
