i havent listened to it, but i have a feeling Del Shannon will be rolling in his grave when this comes out

del shannon actually did some vocals on the albumn.

i stand corrected, i didn't read the crediting right for the recording, it was the sax player from Shannons band that contributed to the album. i so sorry for the mix up.

Del Shannon committed suicide in 1990...

jerry only go away.

seriously... you are NOT the misfits.

glenn was the band and you and doyle et al were just his "twins of evil"

it's great that you are still recording and having fun... it's just not right to exploit the misfits name and legacy.

i saw the 'fits in 82 and in 83. horrible shows... but none the less amazing shit. i miss the 'fits.

i second that.

the original misfits were widely agknowledged to be awful live.

i can see the reasons for these reunions, it's money, and i respect that guys have families and what not, but, why would anyone go see these things?

i mean, black flag just played with all original members, but hey, it's 2003, it's about 20 years late to be seeing black flag.

to me, a show is not floating in a void, it's all about the context, and the context of a black flag show in 2003 is just not punk, it's a rock star thing, and why the fuck would i want to see black flag put on a pedestal as rockstars?

i never saw the original black flag, by the time i was getting into punk, my war was out and they were well on their way to sucking big balls, so what am i going to do, go see them now and pretend i'm 12 again and it's 1982? i could even sneak out of the house, i guess. i just don't get it, it seems no different than the people who dress up like they're in the the 40's and go swing dancing...

I think it's great when bands get back together with the orginal members! People like me who was just in diapers when bands that I know and love were in thier prime, now have a chance to see them. Is it as good as seeing them twenty years ago? No probably not, but it's better than nothing! I mean if you had the chance to see The Ramones now that you know you never can again, wouldn't you? Or if Jello and the rest of DK would make up wouldn't you be there? Even this bands at an average of 40 are better than half the bands out there today.

But on the subject at hand no I don't think these bands that have one or two of the orginal members should be touring or recording under the old bands name. So the misfits are not around anymore as far as I'm concerned. Jerry Only hasd never been more appropiate name.

Really you have a misfits cover band? Because Jerry Only has a misfits cover band too except he still thinks it's the real thing.

I don't dislike the new music because it's 'cool to hate graves'. I dislike the new music because it honestly isn't my cup of tea. I honestly think that the music they're making now isn't good music.

I am no sheep.

give it up, cherry. EVERYBODY on this thread knows you were just going along with what *i* said, because *i'm* COOL...

to tell you the truth, i passed on a pair of free tickets to the sex pistols reunion. and they were the first punk band i got into.

the thing for me is that it's not really about seeing someone play the songs.

it's about the feeling and the time. going to see a punk show in the 80's really felt like you were a part of something. and i still go to shows now, but they only feel like that when it's in a small place and you are seeing some small unknown band, who only you and a few others know about. i don't get that same feeling from seeing a festival show. that just makes me think, i am part of something, and it's lame.

i am not trying to down what you like, and i realise that the kids who are your age now haven't ever had it different. but stuff like doing your own zine (which i saw in your profile) is, to me, so much more like experiencing a classic hardcore show than seeing a bunch of old farts try to maintain energy through a set full of songs that don't have any teeth anymore.

so that's my take. if there is still a punk rock, it's not on the radio, it's in garages and basements and house partys being sung by kids who are pissed off or frusterated and creative. it is not recording a demo to be the next big thing.

and i am not downing folks who want to make a living off of music either. more power to you. i am just saying it doesn't capture that old feeling. and that feeling is what mattered.

I liked the two 'New Misfits' albums. There, I said it. I was ashamed I did, and I really didn't want to, but it happened anyway. I really wish they hadn't used the Misfits name though. Without Danzig there is no "Misfits". It's like the Dead Kennedys without Jello. Danzig was more than just the frontman, he was the soul of that band. If the rest of the members wanted to contiue to make music, that's fine, just pick another name and start a new band. The New Misfits aren't that bad, but they are nowhere near the level they were at when it was Danzig's band, and continuing on with the name for the merchandising and publicity is almost disgraceful.
