MUSIC: Remember Yesterday: Guns N' Roses Latest Comeback Attempt

Rarely interviewed Guns N' Roses frontman Axl Rose has declared on the radio that the band's long-awaited (and awaited, and awaited) album Chinese Democracy will finally be available for sale in the fall. Oh yeah and original Guns members Izzy Stradlin and Slash may be in the tour line-up.

Axl made the allegations on Eddie Trunk's radio show when Eddie's guest co-host Sebastian Bach (Skid Row) patched Axl in via cell phone. Eddie invited him to stop by the studio and --voilà-- one hour later Axl arrived. His only request was no photos.

Trunk described getting Mr. Rose to break his silence as "one of the most incredibly special nights of radio in my 23-year career." I'll bet.

Axl fielded questions regarding the aborted 2002 comeback tour, claiming he was "just not ready" and later hinted that Stradlin may show up for the upcoming scheduled Hammerstein Ballroom gigs. Slash "may end up back in the band" at a later date.

Could this herald a return to the Appetite for Destruction glory days?

My friend Di, who sold thousands of copies of Appetite in the '80s while working at Musicland in a San Fernando Valley mall (how very Fast Times) thinks no.

"I want to hear Slash go on record before I purchase a ticket for these shows," she said. "Axl is completely insane. Axl alone isn't GN'R."

Perhaps the former bandmates have personally realized the lyrical implications of Rose's 1991 Use Your Illusion I 8:59 epic "November Rain":

that info about izzy and slash isn't actually that likely to happen if you read the actual reports about the interview. no one ever said izzy would be in the band outside of maybe showing up for the nyc shows, and all slash rumors have been rumors. the interview actually revealed that the new guitarist wouldn't be any returning ex-gunner.

I know but you can dream.....

As much as Axl is a fuck up and full blown productions are not really rock n roll I love that song! If you can hear it on the radio without seeing the video in your head!

I think that Chinese democracy (as in "democracy in China") will be a reality long before "Chinese Democracy" is released... which should tell you about the chances of that happening anytime soon

And anyone who doesn't like November Rain clearly is ignoring the kick ass outro solo. Any song with a solo like that is instantly awesome.
