They have to be my favorite band of all time, and this is a comment from a distinctly metal-head looking guy. You don't get any better than them, and I must say I love the fact that they are still underground (from a pop/MTV standpoint.)

So anyway, do you all like them, hate them, have a favorite song or album, odd story, or whatever? tongue

Their concert was pretty cool, but to be honest I've never really been much of a fan.

The Pixies are one of my top three favorite bands. Personally, I think Doolittle is their best album. My favorite song is Bone Machine off Surfer Rosa.

There are people who don't think the Pixies are awesome? They must be dumb.

(All non Pixies fans quote this comment, okay?)

la la love the pixies, but honestly, they've gotten their respect and all.

they've always been loved by the critics and the musicians that matter, they've always had a loyal fanbase (even if it was small for the late 80s/early 90s until everyone else caught up), and then they finally got paid when they did the reunion tour.

does it suck that they didn't get more attention and a bigger following when they were really working and clicking creatively? sure. but one of the coolest things about seeing them in 2004 wasn't just getting to see them play, it was being part of the crowd that was so obviously happy to see them...and knowing that the band had to really feel that coming from the crowds at every show. finally.

I don't trust people who don't like the Pixies. It's like not liking ice cream or puppies.

I've had them drilled into my skull by a fanatical friend of mine, who swears they're the greatest band that ever lived.

Shameless as it probably is, I never paid attention until I received a free movie soundtrack CD in 2002 with a copy of Total Film magazine. Where Is My Mind? floated around my bedroom for a long time after that.

EDIT: Spelling 101; 'i' before 'e', except after 'c'.

After twenty-odd years of hearing 30 seconds of a song here and there, and certainly knowing who they are, I'm really starting to get into them. First, it was Bowie's version of 'Cactus', then I saw them on one of the PBS concert shows, then Frank Black was on the Henry Rollins show the other night... after all of that, I'm hooked!

They seem to be everything I've always looked for in a band.

You know, not enough people use the term "Pinko" IMHO.

I've seen them live 3 times:

1 - Touring for 'Surfer Rosa'
2 - Touring for 'Doolittle'
3 - Touring for 'Bossanova'

I was into the Pixies before anyone ever them. tongue

I'm gonna guess because "Pink" has an undeniably positive connotation around these parts. wink

maybe because on this site, pinko would be a compliment? meaning one who poses nude on the internet and posts in a different color than us grey and cream plebes?
