New All Girl Punk Band From Chicago

We haven't had a good girl punk band in Chicago since Mary Tyler Morphine broke up, but this Tuesday that's all changing! A new band called The Groodies are playing their first non basement show at The Fireside Bowl on Jan.14 at 6pm. Their sound is driving hard punk rock, kind like Vice Squad mixed with the Avengers. Sorry if this falls too far into the shameless self promotion category, but for what it's worth, I'm not in the band, and while I am going to be helping to put out their record, mainly I'm just really excited to have some ass-kicking girls playing punk rock in Chicago again!

was unable to make the show (i'm in the middle of moving into my place here in chicago from dallas, kinda hectic). hope it went well.
