It's similar to my theory that people who don't like marshmallows are not to be trusted.

oh man...i can't do the marshmallows (there be animal flesh in those things...makes them a lot less desirable to me) but I love me some Tom.
Where does that put me?

For those of you that haven't seen it, his scene with Iggy in "Coffee in Cigarettes" is an extremely bright point in an otherwise boring movie.

I know a guy who claims to LOVE Tom Waits, and that's about the only thing guy has said that I can believe. it may be his only redeeming quality whatsoever.

I don't really like most of Tom Waits' stuff. I like Nighthawks at the Diner a lot and some isolated songs here and there, but too much of his music is just weird and unpleasant.

This is the only worthwhile thing I've contributed to human discourse to date. I'm proud.

We all salute you for your role in the discourse, now I imagine that people commenting on this thread have heard Tom Waits new album, does it resemble anything he has doen previously, for example Real Gone seemed to be reaching for somewhere between Bone Machine Mule Variations or does this new work resemble alcie/blood money or has the frikin genious braoched soemthing completely different?!?
Ow well I will probably pick it up tommorow at megatunes smile

There's so much of the album (3-in-1) that you get a little of everything. I guess I should say you get a lot of everything, since you get a little of everything on every Tom Waits album.

Well I only dissagree on the point that Tom Waits albums can be starkly contrast each other to the point of his voice being the only recognizeable feature to tie them toghether, esspecially in the latter part of his career Alice/Blood money(though A/B seem to draw on his musical works of old and seemlessy blend it in with the ecclectic qualities of his newest works) came out of left feild compared to the previous mule Variations and the Black Rider (Black Ride which is still an album in its own category)....the man is a fricken Genious , I wish I wasnt so poor I want the new compilation album bad, it will have to wait for the 1st paycheck of february unfortunetly.

Never trust a man in a blue trenchcoat, or anyone who doesn't like Tom Waits.

Agreed.

I think an appropriate corollary to this is "Always trust a man with a flask." I think it's axiomatic that any man with a flask would like Tom Waits.

I feel that way about anyone who doesn't like AC/DC.

Old threads are dece.

I serioulsy love that song too.

Black Rider is my my favourite Tom Waits album but it's that album I listen to the least.
It's just too weird for everyday listening surreal
