The Eagles of Death Metal are neither eagles, nor do they play death metal. They also get criticized every once in a while for lacking developed songwriting chops, but nobody can deny that they rock harder than is necessary. Josh Homme from Queens of the Stone Age started the band with his high school pal Jesse Hughes. Hughes went through a messy divorce, and the pair decided the best way to deal with his doldrums was via leather pants and falsetto-fronted, boot-stomping rock. Now they're opening for The Strokes, and attracting a pretty substantial following.
Insound is hosting a free MP3 of their new single, "I Want You Soo Hard (Boy's Bad News)," from their album Death by Sexy. The song sounds like it's modeled directly after Summertime Blues, but that doesn't stop it from being fun and worth a listen.
