Is it just me, or are Cheated and Dudly two of the greatest songs ever?
I got tickets to see them in May. Woo Hoo! biggrin

I rate it. Fever To Tell kind of irritated me. When it was good, it was spectacular (think Date With The Night, Maps), but when it was boring, it was bloody terrible. Show Your Bones shows a consistent dedication to songcraft, and it's got some great lyrics happening. It's a reverse Sophomore Slump, which is a good - and rare - thing to see.

To clarify: I'm really loving this broader use of acoustics and less distortion-at-all-times on the guitars. It really highlights just how lyrical Zinner can be with his phrasings. I love the drum breakdowns. They seem so in tune with exactly what every song needs. It's crazy. And Karen O. is just ridiculous-amazing. Something like a phenomenon indeed.

"Cheated Hearts" sounds like it could have been a Pretenders song in the best way possible. Karen's constant channeling of Chrissie Hynde's hair finally makes sense.

If I remember correctly, they had an album that didn't get too big before FtT. So, as good as it was, one could consider that their sophmore slump.

A couple of EP, but Fever to Tell is the first full length.

For the record, I'm digging Show Your Bones, but as with the last album there is a bit too much inconsistency...They may be more of an EP/Singles band for me (check out that first Self-titled EP).

I liked my first listen, but I can't say that it rises to the level of "Fever to Tell" at this point, which was an instant classic in my mind. But perhaps there is more going on here, and I will appreciate "Show Your Bones" upon further review.

It's good. There are so many songs on there that bring about random associations. One song reminds me a lot of an MC Chris chorus, of all things, and another brings to mind a nursery rhyme, purposefully I believe.

I have the first self-titled EP, and love the hell out of it. But for no reason in particular I haven't picked up any of their other stuff.

the hair's a decent copy, but the voice is bang on.

i'm really, really enjoying this album. it's just the right blend of folky musing and rock & roll. like if little feat were from new york instead of la.

The problem for me is that I've liked them since I was like 14/15 and when Fever to Tell came out it rocked my world. So at first when I listened to Show Your Bones, I was like wow this is really acoustic...BUT I've been listening to it non-stop and I love it. I really like Cheated Hearts and Turn Into. There's a haunting quality about this album. I'm excited, I'm going to see them in April!

Turn Into is my favorite. But the rest is pretty good as well.

I really wish Karen O would spend less time working on looking as odd as possible.

i just got it. i had high hopes.
i dont think its as good as Fever to Tell but its a surprisingly good second album. its not shit tracks that werent good enough for FTT and its not completely over the top 'weve got bigtime studio money and were going to write 13 minute songs with full orchestras'; instead, its a logical step from the first album.
im not blown away by the drumming but every other aspect is pretty darn good.

i cant believe i never realized untill now that Karen O is totally the female Iggy Pop

It's a grower. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.
It's not as immediate and exciting as Fever to Tell.
