WORSHIP AND TRIBUTE
The rock world’s hottest re-record Metallica’s legendary ‘Master Of Puppets’ for a special Kerrang! CD…
EIGHT OF rock’s hottest bands have contributed to a special re-recording of Metallica’s ‘Master Of Puppets’ in celebration of the twentieth anniversary of the classic album's release.

"The ‘Remastered’ album is our way of saluting Metallica’s finest hour," says K! editor Paul Brannigan. " ‘Master Of Puppets’ is a flawless, inspirational and hugely influential album… the most exciting free CD in the magazine’s history. Put simply, EVERY Kerrang! reader needs to hear this album."

If all that wasn’t enough, a very special guest has written the sleeve notes for the album - none other than Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich.

"It’s awesome to think that some of you guys weren’t even born when we recorded ‘Master Of Puppets’!" laughs Ulrich. "When we started thinking about Kerrang! honouring ‘Master Of Puppets’ with this tribute album, and saw the artwork and the line-up of bands we realised it was a BIG deal. We’re honoured that it’s a record that’s perceived as a milestone and a record that’s been so inspiring to so many people, both fans and young bands like Trivium and Bullet For My Valentine. We’re as excited to hear this as you guys are!"

Kerrang!’s ‘Remastered’ features the following tracklisting: Machine Head
‘Battery’, Trivium ‘Master Of Puppets’, Mendeed ‘The Thing That Should Not Be’, Bullet For My Valentine ‘Welcome Home (Sanitarium)’, Chimaira ‘Disposable Heroes’, Fightstar ‘Leper Messiah’, Mastodon ‘Orion’ and Funeral For A Friend ‘Damage, Inc.’.

‘Remastered’ is only available with Kerrang! issue 1102, on sale on April 5. Reserve your copy now to avoid disappointment!

Kerrang is generally regarded as a joke in many parts of the UK, they frequently jump from bandwagon to bandwagon, hell just look at the bands playing this, all fads. They're also notorious for constantly doing "best ever" polls that inevitably get swamped with the same old releases and whatever's popular at the time. Hell at many UK Metal fests you can get Kerrap! T-shirts with a Piss-take of their logo. The only redeeming feature is that Matter frontman Dom Lawson writes (well sometimes, mostly he's the news editor) for them and he sates his not what every trendie kid in the UK wanrts to hear.

On paper this sounds absolutely disgusting and I'm pretty sure it will be.

If Master of Puppets could talk right now it would be saying things like, 'lunacy has found me', 'just leave me alone' and indeed 'the thing that should not be'...

So did anyone grab a copy? Have to say overall it wasn't too bad! Stand out tracks have to be Machine Head and Trivium. The only band that I feel truly do deserve to be shot are Funeral For A Friend who truly massacred Damage, Inc. I hated them anyway. I hate them more.

But overall have to say not too shabby! biggrin

the album is immense, I spent all last night at work listening to it.....the FFAF track is rubish, apparently their drummer sang it....without doubt machine head and trivium stole the album, but kudos to fightstar too. Rob flynn sounded awesome.

I feel master of puppets appreciation week is on the cards.
