I have some high hopes for the album. As long as they bring some "A game" funk I will be quite happy smile

I think they still have the blood, the sugar and the sex...but they no longer have the same magik.

I think there will be one (1) really good song, 4 (four) very MTV friendly songs, 5 (five) completely forgettable songs and a ton of amazing guitar work from frusciante.

multiply those numbers by 2. it's a double album.

Somebody needs to play 'em a copy of "Uplift MoFo Party Plan" or "Mother's Milk" and tell 'em, "You can be this band again if you really tried hard."

I'm interested to hear it.

I AM, however, rather irritated by the fact that the recording of this album is delaying John Frusciante's solo tour.

I downloaded a couple of his solo albums a while back, expecting them to be a bit of a wank. One of them - the name escapes me - was fucking brilliant. He's got a Cat Stevens-ish voice, which surprised me.

Except you can't be in your twenties forever. Three of them are in their mid-forties. Who wants to keep playing the same kind of thing for twenty years?

If the first single is any indication this record is going to blow. Hard.
At least in my humble, Frusciante worshipping opinion.

I don't think Antony Keidis is a bad singer. His voice goes quite well with the rest of the band. He's a better singer than I could ever hope to be.

My problem with Mr. Keidis is outside of music, I find he to be a womanizing macho jerk. That kind of ruins me for his voice. If it weren't for him, I'd be a big fan of theirs.

I think he's gotten lazy in the writing process for his lyrics as well. I still like his voice, but the trite words and lame attempts at rhyming have to go.

Another Freaky Stylee would be awesome, but I doubt they (RHCP or GC) would invest all the time to make a whole album that would not be as marketable. It would be the equivalent of an art house film at this point in their expected sales/tours etc.

What would blow everyone away is something new, like a mini album of 3-4 Freaky Stylee inspired George Clinton produced songs released for sale on the internet or something. Like though I-tunes or whatever.
And keep Flea away from the brass abuse. tongue

Has anyone else heard the Dani California single? That turned out to be really good. Though the end of the song starts to sound like Skynyrd bok
