The Dead Boys are no longer dead. Unfortunately, original frontman Stiv Bators still is. After a couple of reunion shows last year, main guitarist Cheetah Chrome has decided the band should give it another go.

We're going to do a couple of long rehearsals, and then for a couple of days, we're going to record things -- just mess around in the studio and see what we come up with. We have no idea what to expect from it, but we figure we'll run some ideas around at soundchecks, block out 10 hours and see what we've got at the end of the day.

Sounds like it promises to be an amazing record. Nothing like going into the studio and randomly puking out some material for the kids (and their moms and dads). Asked if the band is comfortable using the "Dead Boys" moniker without Stiv, they confirmed that it is actually slightly "dodgy" but that they are "kinda stuck with" the name. Look for the band to play some Canadian dates in May.

Punknews.org also reports that Chrome is interested in reuniting the legendary Ohio band Rocket From the Tombs, which featured later members of Pere Ubu and Television.

Rocket From the Tombs already reunited in 2003. Who was in Television and RFTT (besides Richard Lloyd, who was part of the reunion tour, replacing Peter Laughner)?

I was talking about Richard Lloyd, who will probably be on board for this reunion as well.

Everyone I know that went to the CBGB's reunion gig of The Dead Boys says it was actually pretty good. Not Stiv Bators good, of course, but decent none the less. I've heard even more kudos for the Rocket from the Tombs gig a few years ago. The reissued album was actually god damn great...

It was bloody awful. Awful! We actually left after the third or fourth song. It might have worked if they brought in a temp singer to just do that, but they sang the songs themselves and none of them could bloody sing. There were rumors of them having Handsome Dick step in on vocals which would have been cool and respectful and was what I was expecting... I was there to see The Anti-Nowhere League anyway, who also sucked that night. Everything about that night sucked.
