1 - I'll read rolling stone from time to time.
2. Radio sucks, satellite or terrestrial, as far as music goes. I listen to some talk, but for music i stick with cds and rhapsody.
3. VH1 Classic, a little bit of VH1.
4. Yes. Punk as in the original punk rock movement that was actually a credible social scene (ex. Pistols, Ramones, Clash, Buzzcocks, Jam, etc)
5. I've listened to punk for a couple of years now, modern "punk" has always rubbed me the wrong way. Bands like Blink 182 and the numerous more recent groups have none of the originality of the original movement. Aftering discovering the Pistols debut, and the Ramones, i realized that modern bands are meer pretenders compared to the originals.
6. I don't know, maybe one or two.
7. 30 or 40%
8. Ramones, Pistols, Buzzcocks.
9. I listen to punk for the attitude, the fuck you style of musicianship, and the tribue it pays to early rock. Simple three, four chords, and 2 to 3 minute song length.
10. Punk rock, at least as i see it, is no longer on the pop or rock charts. Green Day's latest album isn't punk, it owes more to the Who and the Replacements than the Clash. They play straight-ahead rock for the most part. There's plenty of interesting stuff on indie labels, but what young people today consider punk rock is more a emo/metal hybrid that is much more corperate and packaged than real punk rock.

7) What percentage of the music you listen to during an average day is punk music? about 40%

8) Which are your favourite punk bands? clash, exploited, dead kennedys, circle jerks, a lot of the lookout bands, a lot of the the epitaph bands, not so much of the victory bands.

9) Why do you think you listen to punk music? it reminds me of the energy i once had as a youth. as a youth, i listened to it to remind me that i would always be young.

10) And finally, do you think punk music has changed? no. i've been listening to the same albums for the last ten years. if it's changed, it's only new bands taking the place of old bands. i haven't heard anything that hasn't already been done... even if they're doing it better.

1) Which music magazines do you read?

None regularly, I read the music reviews in Ol' Skool Rodz and Car Kulture Deluxe, and I read the boards here.

2) Which radio station do you listen to?

www.borderradio.com internet radio out of Austin, KTSW San Marcos, 91.7 KVRX/KOOP Austin, KAOS Austin, KZEP (classic rock) San Antonio and KONO (oldies) San Antonio

3) Which music television channels do you watch?

MTV, VH1, but I don't watch much tv.

4) Do you listen to punk music?
(If no, thank you for you time. If yes, please continue to question 5)

Yes.

5) How long have you listened to punk?

Since high school, in the late 70s.

6) How many hours a day do you listen to music during an average day?

Never thought about it, mostly all day, at work, on the road, at home, the radio is always on.

7) What percentage of the music you listen to during an average day is punk music?

Define punk.

Not really, ummm, my mood swings and my listening habit swings with it...lately I've been listening to mostly rockabilly/psychobilly/surf guitar, but I mix punk in alot...maybe 20% to 50% depending on the mood I'm in that day/week/month...

8) Which are your three favourite punk bands?

The Clash, The Dead Kennedys, Ramones, Butthole Surfers, Joe King Carrasco, The Stooges, Dropkick Murphys, Social Distortion, Circle Jerks, Black Flag, X, The Misfits, Big Boys (punk?)...I can't keep it to just three...but the first three I listed are probably good.

9) Why do you think you listen to punk music?

Generally, because it's raw, unpretentious, stripped down and full of energy.

Specifically, because it sometimes makes the perfect soundtrack to my angry mood. I have some arrested development mid-life crisis angst still fucking with me. I know, I should have outgrown that at my age.

10) And finally, do you think punk music has changed?

I don't think so. I think what people call "punk" has changed some though.

5) How long have you listened to punk?since 1995ish

6) How many hours a day do you listen to music during an average day? what i listen to rotates, so if i'm in that kind of mood i would say under an hour.

7) What percentage of the music you listen to during an average day is punk music? see above answer. if i'm in the mood for it i'll probably listen every day or for a couple days.

8) Which are your three favourite punk bands?stooges, television, sex pistols, the clash

9) Why do you think you listen to punk music? its punk. its stricken down to the simple, the basic, the necessary.

10) And finally, do you think punk music has changed? i don't think punk exists anymore. then again, look at my top three. i would say i'm a punk-elitist but that wouldn't be very punkrock.

Age & Gender:

35 year old male.

1) Which music magazines do you read?

Spin and Rolling Stone, from time to time. Guitar World.

2) Which radio station do you listen to?

Mostly country, when I hang out with my dad. I don't mind old fashioned country music, really, but most of it, today, is pap, filler or novelty.

Album 88 and WREK are local college stations that play a wide variety of underground sound...rap, noise, Americana, punk, etc. I tune in to those ususally when I'm painting, for background noise.

3) Which music television channels do you watch?

TLC, ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX, Science Channel, National Geographic Channel, any Asian/Japanese channels, Discovery. Really, I take no position or stance on TV in general. If there's something I want to watch, I watch it. That whole "TV is evil and will rot your brain" crap has gotten tiresome. Actually watching it seems more subversive than not. I know most of it is a joke, but I like to have fun with it.

4) Do you listen to punk music?

Only when it's playing.

5) How long have you listened to punk?

143 years.

6) How many hours a day do you listen to music during an average day?

It's everywhere. External, internal...

7) What percentage of the music you listen to during an average day is punk music?

I don't know, I misplaced my charts and notes.

8) Which are your three favourite punk bands?

Blondie, Talking Heads, The Kinks. Black Flag, The Clash, and Buddy Holly and the Crickets are up there, as well.

9) Why do you think you listen to punk music?

I used to think about it alot, but I'd rather spend my energy on other things.

10) And finally, do you think punk music has changed?

I don't care.

If you have any more further comments on punk music, then please feel free to write it down.

I spent so many years listening to noise/punk/experimental stuff, that when I discovered bands like Fleetwood Mac and the Beatles, it blew my mind! That shit was like it was from Mars, or something.

Seems like "subversive" or "weird" is a matter of perception.

Thankyou for taking our questionnaire.
