California - Joni Mitchell

I've written about this in my profile a couple times. I think it's not only the concept of somewhere warmer and out west, but the word is beautiful; it just rolls of the tongue and vibrates up through your nose.

If you know the J. Mitchell song "Little Green" from the album Blue think about how she sings it when she sings "he went to California..." that's what I'm talking about. It just sounds pretty.

A great thread.

Some of my personal favorites about the beautiful state of California are:

"Ventura Highway" - America
"Ukiah" - The Doobie Brothers
"(Sittin' On) The Dock of the Bay" - Otis Redding
"L.A. Woman" - The Doors
"Going to California" - Led Zeppelin
"Hotel California" - The Eagles
'Pet Sounds' (the entire album) - Beach boys
"Livin' on the Fault Line" - The Doobie Brothers
"San Francisco (Be Sure to Wear Flowers in Your Hair)" - Scott McKenzie

I could go on and on and on, but I'll stop there (for now).
