Last November, the band were announced as inductees for the March 13 ceremony alongside Blondie, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Black Sabbath, Miles Davis and the duo of Herb Alpert and Jerry Moss, but Friday morning, the group's PR company directed journalists to the band's websitehttp://www.thefilthandthefury.co.uk/
for a statement.

"Next to the Sex Pistols, rock and roll and that hall of fame is a piss stain," read a hand written note.

The statement went on to call the Cleveland, Ohio museum - where the Rock N' Roll Hame Of Fame is located - "urine in wine."

The band declared that they will not be attending next month's inaugural dinner, also taking aim at the price of attending the event, which costs $2500 a head.

They concluded their remarks by hitting out at the "anonymous" judges who voted them in, before adding: "We're not coming. Your (sic) not paying attention. Outside the shit-stem is a real Sex Pistol."

A band's spokesperson said they had no other information on the band at present, but frontman Johnny Rotten and guitarist Steve Jones have scheduled a guest interview appearance in Los Angeles on March 9 on the late night US chat show Jimmy Kimmel Live.

Atleast the Sex Pistols are holding their ground about it. Black Sabbath said the same thing every year they got snuffed -- and suddenly had change of feelings towards the Rock N' Roll Hall of fame when they finally got in.

Keith Richards going batshit insane at the news of Mick accepting knighthood is still cooler.

At last! A respectable decision!

Wish they could have went that way when the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame issued that documentary with them in it.

bingo...

apparently nobody remembers the big fuss that was made when they got snuffed the year they became eligible. At least they are sticking to their guns.

Bob Segur's keyboardist used to buy gear from our shop and lived down the street from my boss at the time. When they got inaugurated he couldn't even get his wife into the ceremony because that's how hoity-toity and pompous the whole affair is.

I'd like to know where all the proceeds go personally .I was there opening day (I wanna say in '96) and I've been back recently only to discover that most of the exhibits and displays hadn't changed or been updated 10 years later.

That being said... I love going to the museum and hanging out when I'm in the area.

And even cooler than that is The Kinks' lead singer Ray Davies getting shot trying to stop a purse snatcher, telling the press to lie about the severity of his condition (he was in the hospital several weeks and endured several surgeries, but told the press to say it was just a flesh wound) and then failed to show up in court to testify against the purse snatcher because he was busy doing a gig.

All of this at age 60, and still punk as fuck.

its fun to visit there...but it is certainly the rich-mans version of rocxk and roll

it's sorta silly in that way, given that most of the roots of rock, and it's best talents, came out of poverty.

they are a bunch of talentless bitches.

they were the original New Kids On The Block, created by a manager. they wouldn't have ever even been a band had Malcolm not recruted them and told them what to play. fur fuck's sake, he (thier manager) threw the original bass player (who could kind-of play) to replace him with Sid (who could NOT play) simply to "show" punks how they should dress. Malcolm conviently owned a shop that sold that shit, lol.

they were sell-outs before they even played the first note.

fuck them!

Thank you for that. I have a friend who says that the Sex Pistols were "great for the movement but their music sucked."

This much is all true... but they never tried to deny any of it. Johnny even goes on to say... "after our shows I was more concerned with trying to get my dick sucked than starting any movement"

But the fact remains that they did have an enormous impact on music history, thereby earning a place in the HOF. I support them more for sticking to their guns in the face of an institution that snubbed them than for standing for any type of punk credibility.

sticking to WHAT guns, they never had any guns to stick to, lol.

the MAINSTREAM sniubbed them, not Rock & Roll...

the day the arrived in America for thier first US Tour, they were supposed to be on Saturday Night Live for god's sake. they missed that, PLUS the entire first leg of the tour (which was the northern USA part) because Malcom knew that they WERE accepted there and wanted to only play the South... where there would be trouble. they CHOSE to be snubbed, not the other way around! Patti Smith, The Ramones, Tha Damned, Elvis Costello, The Clash, not to mention the whole pre-punk/glam scene (a'la Bowie), and so on and so on, were all playing to packed houses at the time.

you of all people, 'Shock, being a pupil of punk history, should know this.

i will totally agree that they had a HUGE impact on the shaping of the scene and on music in general. but sticking to thier guns? be fucking serious.

he's right, the talentless junkie was the "best part".

plus, Sid Sings is better than anything the Pistols ever did, lol.

i'd nominate Sid simply for killing that skank Nancy.
