I can't take Beatles covers seriously because it seems like they're so, I don't know, iconic and pervasive.
So my favorite Beatles covers are the lame '60s covers by movie and TV stars, like Mae West's cover of "Twist and Shout" and William Shatner's cover of "Lucy In the Sky With Diamonds."
Just out of interest, the BBC commissioned a bunch of folk to cover songs from the White Album as part of a tribute to John Lennon on the anniversary of his death last year. Tracklisting is on the BBC website here
