Is there one?

There should be. I mean there's a Weazer group FFS. All due respect to Weazer, but they didn't exactly have the same impact on music.

When I tried to start a Velvets group I got an email saying that it (or something similar) exists already. If it does, then for the life of me, I can't see it...

I'd join if it was approved.

I love Lou's loathing.

That'd be funny if it wasn't true. Gotta love Lou!

If there were a VU group, it would cover pretty much every other post on the Music board. Is it Lester Bangs who said something to the effect of 'we will never agree on anything like we agree on the Velvet Underground'?

I would join. I don't think there is one already because if there was I'd probably be in it. I can't be sure though.

Tell it to the Lou. He wouldn't let you moderate a group with that attitude! wink

I stood right next to Lou for about 10 minutes. I didn't even dare breath a word. He's so fucking scary.

I did listen in to his conversation though

Where was this?

Not to divulge too much, but my husband is one of the few living people who can be patronizing to Lou. Lou knows why. Lou knows all.

Do you too wish to wear shiny shiny, shiny boots of leather?

(sorry, had to be done...)

I'm down for a VU group. One of my all time favorite bands that none of my immediate friends are into.

Where was this?

backstage at Wembley - after a Velvet Undreground gig

He was talking about being booked into a hotel under the name "frank burito"

John Cale was sitting on a far wall being aloof & cool (I didn't speak to him either)

Maureen Tucker squeezed by me, smiled and said hello and I shook Sterling's hand and thanked him for dropping out of academia and doing the reunion.

Well that's four names n the floor now...

Not to divulge too much, but my husband is one of the few living people who can be patronizing to Lou. Lou knows why. Lou knows all.

I think I remember talking to you about this ages ago.

For a brief moment in time, groups didn't require approval. During that time, a lot of groups got approved that wouldn't usually.

I usually don't approve single band groups. There's usually just not enough to talk about and a thread in the music forum will usually suffice. I'm more inclined to approve genre based stuff (rockabilly, hardcore 78, neu wave etc....)

What if I suggested something wider - encompassing The Velvet Underground, Nico, Avante Garde rock, the Warhol Factory scene and bands directly influenced by it all (The Modern Lovers, The Dream Syndicate, Jesus & Mary Chain, Spaceman 3 etc etc etc...)?
