Maybe because he's not a front man. Neither is Brian Wilson.

Freddie Mercury, Jimi Hendrix and Prince are the classic frontmen. The types of frontmen that go on the Mount Rushmore of Frontmen.

And screw you all, but Billie Joe Armstrong is an incredible frontman.

Anyone who denies Patton/g0d has no taste in music.

what about James Brown? Easily one of the best ever...
Jim Morrison was pretty feckin' awesome too...
Les Claypool - how the hell he plays the bass like that and 'sings' at the same time is beyond me.
Anthony Kiedis, he's good
Michael Hutchence was always one of my favourites too...
Bjork, she's brilliant live.
And Jarvis cocker has incredible stage prescence also.

not disagreeing with any mentioned so far either. all great.

i'd also have to nominate bjork and the way she prances across the stage.

others would include:

jeff from jerome's dream
the guy from an albatross
the guy from as the sun sets/daughters
the guy from racebannon
the guy from arab on radar
yasuko from melt banana
cedric from at the drive-in/the mars volta
tim from les savy fav

my list of favorite singers would be completely different. these are just people who are fun to watch.
