Bon Scott. I dig him, man.

For my money, Brian Johnson is hugely underrated. I can't choose. Bon was certainly a more entertaining, charismatic frontman, but I love some of Brian's vocals too much to rule him out.

Bon Scott WAS rock n' roll.

Yeah, sorry... it's Bon Scott, without question.

Bon's got a bit of an unfair advantage, though, not just his personality, but he went out on top, never having to suffer the indignity of a subpar record or staying past his welcome.

I think if you narrowed it down to say, Highway to Hell vs. Back In Black -- the best of either's respective work -- though, you'd be hard pressed to choose.

I suppose... I just like Bon's voice tons better. It has more character, whereas Johnson's is basically yr standard metal upper register screech.

Bon Scott had a better voice and better albums overall, but Back in Black is simply untouchable.

Really you cannot say that one was better than the other. Bon is the man that gave AC/DC it's cut. He gave it that touch and his vocals were great for the albums he made. Brian took what Bon gave to AC/DC and made it his own. Brian added his rasp and fury. And really I would not have had it any other way. Bon is a legend and I am sure years down the road Brian will be looked at in the same light.

Not to step on anyone here but If you are a fan of AC/DC, you too would say you can't choose between them.

I love both. I prefer Bon, but that's because he was such a charismatic, drunken, Aussie ragamuffin. What a guy. But I have a soft spot for Brian, and not just because I regularly get weird, crazy old men, and weird crazy young men coming up to me and saying 'I LOVE AC/DC! BRIAN JOHNSON WOO!'

No question about it, Bon was the man. Back in Black is really the only solid album AC/DC had without him and even that's not up to par with most of the records they did with Bon.

No, if I was a true AC/DC fan, I would say Powerage is one of the greatest albums of all time.

I like Brian fine, but it's a damn easy choice between the two.

My friend's dad gave me the Bon Scott book, Highway to Hell, but I have yet to read it.

I can't choose between the two. It's like apples and oranges, really.

AC/DC died with Bon Scott. Back In Black is an awesome album, but nothing since has even come close to that mark, and I can't help but wonder what BIB would have sounded like with Bon rather than Brian.

What really cheeses me off is when people claim they can't tell the difference between the two.

AC/DC is the Brothers Young - and having a drummer who knows how to not play.

edit: If forced to choose who to sing for Malcolm and Angus, I go with Brian, 'cause he sings on For Those About To Rock (We Salute You).
Probably my favorite album from the band.

Brian Johnson is just a talented artisan compared to the genius that was Bon Scott.

Bon Scott

Brian Johnson is really good though. picking a new singer would have been really hard as well as filling Bon's Shoes. Brian has done a great job and was the best choice of replacement singer. I really like Brian's vocals.

great book, give it a read.

although apparently its missing a story. my aunt went a perth jail cell where Bon apparently wrote Jailbreak on the wall when he was doing a couple of days for possesion. apparently you can still see the lyrics on the wall.

if it is in the book, i missed it. other than that. great book.

Bon Scott is dead isn't he? So surely Brian is the better option.

I consider them different bands with different merits and like them both. There is no doubting that AC/DC with Brian put on a great show and play excellent music from both eras.
But as the guy said earlier, it's the Young's band.
